Went for the first time during their special “Oktoberfest” celebration. Received a warm welcome from the friendly staff. Food was really good and creative for the theme. (The beer/cheese dip for the pretzels was amazing, and the sides with my schnitzel tasted like someone’s “oma” was back in the kitchen.)
I’d love to go back and try the normal menu.

What an amazing hidden gem! Great atmosphere, fantastic food, and outstanding staff! My wife and I have driven past this place for years now on our way down the shore and always said we need to check it out one day. Well today, to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary, was the day. We were taken back by the owner Norm and his friendly staff and all the regulars that come here for good reason. You must put the Root Cellar Tavern on your bucket list. You won't regret it. We're going back on Wednesday night for the Country Line dancing classes, the dollar wings, and the half priced whiskey. Can't wait. And take it from me, try their keilbasa cheesesteak, their bacon cheeseburger which tastes like the best beef ever, and an order of their smores fries and fried oreos. It won't help your diet but it will put a smile on your face for sure.

Come in and hang out with Norm! He makes the Root Cellar Tavern feel like Cheers, you know “where everyone knows your name”! I’m so grateful that I came across this unique destination in Dorothy, NJ. It feels like time stays still because the people there make you feel like you are a part of the community. I’ve enjoyed their wings and variety of sauces (fave is the Bang sauce) and also the Dory flatbread! They have billiards tables that I look forward to enjoying at my future visits. If you are looking for a relaxing atmosphere with great charm, please check out the Root Celler Tavern, a hidden oasis awaits you!
