Unwrapping the hero reveals a work of art.The counter staff works with precision.The ratio is perfect; no single meat overpowers the others. I admit that when the sub shop opened in the 1960s and Dumont High students were allowed off campus for lunch, Denaro's #4 was a frequent sandwich that sustained my friends and I throughout the afternoon and into dinner. The size of this hero was unbelievably large; it could easily feed 2 people.
There was a decent ratio of marinara sauce and mozzarella. The cutlet could have been crispier and the bread needs to be slightly toasted.
The overall appearance wasn’t a sight for sore eyes, but it tasted a lot better than it looks.
