Limins was once the best Trini spot in New Jersey. I've been going since the beginning when they were Caribbean Cuisine. I've noticed that the quality of the food has gone down. The roti is not as flavorful, and the pholourie is just dough. Worst part is, they had the nerve to go up in price, for what? I'll be on the look out for a new Trini spot to frequent.

Many people after being away from authentic food, tends to forget what it supposed to taste like. I see reviews of all sorts and wonder if some of them are just left because they can. While everyone will have different experiences and opinions, some things are just too hard pressed to ignore. Like what a good doubles smells and tastes like. Limins has never mastered the art of doubles making even from the get go. Thick doughy bara seems to be the trend to the point where, after a while, and not having much alternatives close by, you just get one and cross your fingers and hope knowing full well, it will be the same but hoping for a different outcomes. I took my niece, her husband and kids there once directly after picking them up from the airport. They were visiting from Trini. It was more to see their reactions and it did not disappoint. Their reactions that is. All 4 doubles went in the garbage after the first bite. The response was they cyah handle de Yankee doubles and " how dey cud be trying to fool people wit dat". The saltfish is usually good but the bakes way too doughy. Beef pies and currants roll are usually good but the pone can sometimes be off. I find the veggie options to be a safe bet than the meat options. The curry can just be too overpowering sometimes as if they sprinkled additional curry powder just towards the end of cooking so you get that strong uncooked slightly bitter taste. Same with the channa sometimes. Tends to carry a bitterness to it. The meats are not always consistently well cooked. It hadda bunjay lil more sometimes especially the beef and goat. The roti skins is usually a safe bet. The chicken soup is usually on point. Because we are usually visiting family 2 towns over, we would stop in because the folks are usually friendly even from way back in Vidya days and it was almost like popping in to say hello and grab a few things. We've come to gravitate towards safer choices like the currants roll, pies and veggies options and the packaged goods like the solo, orchards and other bottled drinks as time went on. I remember Maria from way back always pleasant and later on some of the others as well like Denise. They always worked very hard. Used to be called Caribbean Cuisine back in the day. For a proper doubles though, you have to go to NY in Bklyn at De Hot Pot or Quees to TriniDelite.. Even the guy with the food truck on Central Ave in E.O. does a decent doubles....

My 1st time here. The staff was cool and very nice. The dhal was really good. Doubles were tasty though spicy isn't spicy. There were a few things I tried to order that were out ok. This is my fault, I wanted veggie roti so bad I settled even though most ingredients were out. Wrong thing to do. I did not like it at all. I requested to have chickpeas and okra bc it was the only I would eat available. It lacked flavor and unless you are an okra lover, that was a hard no; don't do it. Chickpeas no real flavor and even the roti skin I was disappointed. I'm not here to discourage but it's not for me. I would go back for the dhal hands down. That was really good. To all my non-meat eaters.

I brought food a few times from here. I decided to get oxtails today and was very disappointed. I received no plantains. The rice was hard. Cabbage was bland. No gravy. A little bit of oxtails. It was a waste of money.

The food was not authentic, not seasoned and half cooked, especially the meats and champagne no flavour.

Worse Trini food on this side of Jersey. Spent more than enough here on food for the family, got the Sunday special and a curry roti. The macaroni pie in all the specials was burnt and disgusting, food had 0 taste. Couldn't believe I pay all that money for burnt food, but you all were smart and put the burnt side down so I couldn't see it in all the sauce. Anyway, wouldn't recommend this place to a single soul and won't be returning after this rip off. Thanks for the waste.

Okay, listen...Stop reading reviews and order! The food is SUPERB!!! I was a little weary ordering because some places are hit or miss. This was a HIT. Great flavor, great portion size, oh and did I mention GREAT FLAVOR!!! WOW. I got the curry goat with buss up on the side, I nearly fainted when I dipped it in the gravy to taste it. Then the GOAT....man it flatlined me. I will be ordering again on Monday. 20 out of 10 highly recommend!!!

Trinidad has some of the best curry in the world. This is the real deal. The chicken roti is fantastic and the people are nice.
They’re like a 2.5-3 at best.
Food is edible, and they have the favorites, but it doesn’t hit like Trinidadian food is suppose to.
I’ve eaten there about 5-6 times now, but I don’t think I’ll go back anymore. For me it just isn’t good.
Stay away from the rice
