My friend introduced me to this restaurant, so I decided to go and try the food, The food was very salty. I ordered over $100 worth of food. I ordered the white rice with pumpkin. The pumpkin did not have no taste. It did not have no seasoning and it was not well flavor. I ordered the oxtail. The oxtail was not soft enough, and it was too salty. I ordered the Pollari it was nice and soft, but it was too salty. I ordered 6 bake and selfish the bake was nice and big. It was soft, but the selfish did not add enough seasoning enough flavor and it was salty. I ordered a coconut buns. The buns was no good. I ordered two egg balls. The egg balls was salty and they didn’t have no flavor. I know about catering or cooking Guyanese food. I’m very familiar with how it should taste. Also, I had 1 pint tart and one cheese roll. The pastry dough was very thick and it did not taste nice it taste like a lot of flour in your mouth.

Theres better places around. With better food, better portions, better customer service. Make this place your last resort. My money was definitely not well spent. I ended up just giving it away to the homeless man outside. I completely lost my appetite. Once I saw how they skimp on the portions. Overcharging and have the nerve to have bad attitudes. I asked to speak to someone in the back . A woman comes out on fire talking about how she's not Jamaican she's Guyanese and she went to culinary school , i'm wrong and she knows what she's doing. I was blown away .

I should've known not to Go there. I tried once before to order on Uber eats and had to cancel the order because they said no one was there to make the food, I initially told them to cancel on their end but they never did. I sat around hungry unable to use my app for over an hour. They need to get their hospitality and efficiency together ASAP. Or they won't have a business. It's too much competition out here for them to act like this. There's two other Caribbean restaurants in a one block radius, both directions. The one by the east Orange train station next to the liquor store, Is way better.

Just some advice to the ppl at Spice & Thing: If your work or career choice, no longer brings you joy. It's OK to let go of your pride and find a new direction.

My experience was awesome. Andrea made sure my order was ready on time, well-packed, and the pasties tasted great, which were also fresh. I definitely recommend this business for its Caribbean delicacies.

I stopped by this business about two months ago with my colleague . The place looked fine, but during our visit I personally observed the manager speaking loudly to a staff members and using profanity. Two of the employees appeared distressed and the interaction affected the overall atmosphere so we left abruptly. After reading through other reviews, it seems like a few people have noticed the same kind of issues with communication and leadership. That kind of energy can really affect how both employees and customers feel. To the team working there; keep going and know that people do notice your effort. Hopefully management takes this feedback as a chance to create a more positive, respectful space for everyone.

Uber Eats Order: To be fair, I don’t know about the service or atmosphere because I’ve never actually been inside. The last time I ordered bake and shark, it wasn’t fresh, and the 5 stage porridge I got wasn’t good either. I wanted to try something different to give this place another chance, I’ve given it three chances, and this is my LAST!
The only reason they’re convenient is because they’re the only spot open early in the morning if you want island food around 6 AM.
Not worth the $16 on Uber! The dumplings were tough and had banana stains, the cheese pastry was burnt, and the ackee was not worth $9 at all.

Spice N Thing via Fooda Pop-Up – Disgraceful Portions, Disrespectful Experience:

I don’t know who at Spice N Thing thought it was acceptable to show up at our corporate site and serve microscopic portions of food to working professionals, but they need a serious reality check. Through the Fooda pop-up program, this restaurant had the opportunity to showcase their Caribbean cuisine to a new audience and they blew it.

Let’s talk about the oxtail meal. One of our associates paid full price and received two pieces of oxtail. Not two servings. Not two generous cuts. Just two sad, lonely pieces. Another colleague ordered the chicken meal and was handed one single piece of chicken. One. Is this a tasting menu? A ration kit? Because it certainly wasn’t a proper lunch.

To make matters worse, it felt like we had to beg for sides. Rice, plantains, vegetables; basic accompaniments that should be standard with any Caribbean dish were either missing, skimpy, or treated like premium add-ons. We’re not opposed to paying for quality, but when the portions are this insulting, it’s not about money. It’s about respect. We expect value, not crumbs.

If the folks at Spice N Thing walked into a restaurant and were served two pieces of oxtail or one piece of chicken for the price they charged us, they’d be offended and rightly so. So why is it okay to serve that to us?

This isn’t just a complaint. It’s a demand: Do better. If you’re going to represent your brand at a corporate pop-up, bring food that reflects pride in your culture and respect for your customers. Because what you served us on your last visit was not only disappointing, it was disgraceful.

The food is absolutely delicious. My office hires the team for lunch every few weeks and we are never disappointed. The line is always out of the door. The food is flavorful and the people are always so kind.

First of all, I would say, the food is great. Tastes good. speaking from someone from the caribbean. But my only issue with this place is the cashier's attitude. It's my second time there and the attitude she gives off., I don't understand. There no menu in the open and you can't see what food is available. So i simple ask questions. And yet she give me attitude like she doesn't want to take my order. Same time I feel like she be double charging me for things im not asking for. Foods great but services doesn't make me want to spend money there.

Piggybacking off of a recent review left by a customer. I too have been to Spice N Ting. Twice so far. Once in May and again in June, and both times were amazing. The food’s super flavorful and feels really authentic. Props to the chef for keeping it consistent!

What really made my last visit stand out was the service. One server seemed like they were having a tough day (we all do), and there was another server (a young man) that seemed preoccupied on his phone while myself and other customers were waiting. Mind you the line had about 4 of us in it. I ended up being helped by a tall young woman with glasses who totally turned things around. I guess she noticed what was happening. As soon as she was done with her customer she stepped in, apologized, and gave excellent service from start to finish. Super professional and just really kind. Hospitality Management at it's core!

I live in PA so I’m not in the area all the time, but this place is totally worth the trip. If they cater for private events, I’d definitely be interested in connecting with someone about that next time I’m having an event.

I am only giving 4-Stars because of having to wait while one server was on the phone and the other server who wasn't having a good day.

I highly recommend! Great food, great people!

Amazing Food & Even Better Service!

I recently visited Spice N Thing and was blown away by the entire experience. The food was absolutely delicious—fresh, flavorful, and clearly made with care. From the initial approach to being served my order, everything was smooth and professional. What really made my visit unforgettable was the outstanding service I received from Latoya (the young lady with the glasses). She greeted me with a warm, genuine smile and treated me like a valued guest from the moment I walked in. She was friendly, knowledgeable, and incredibly attentive throughout the entire interaction. It’s rare to come across someone so naturally gifted in hospitality. She didn't just take my order, she elevated the whole experience with her positive energy and professionalism. She is a true asset to the Spice N Thing team, and I want to sincerely thank the management for hiring her and sharing her service with the community. You've got a real star on your hands. Highly recommend this place for anyone looking for amazing Caribbean cuisine and top-tier service. I'll definitely be back!
