website advertises jazz and soul food, called restaurant to confirm, host told us no jazz. made a Saturday reservation for 5P anyway, drove 40 minutes in hopes of trying good soul food nearby … male greeter did not greet, left me standing there in front of their stand with no acknowledgement for nearly five minutes, then looks up with no “hello, how are you?” even, simply goes: “take out, right? I know you not trying to sit because we have two parties here and it is going to be a LONG wait.” immediately walked out after this interaction and went across the street to a restaurant that actually respects their patrons. there is no point to making a reservation, unless you are apart of a large party or a regular, they are not wanting nor caring for your business, so not necessary to give it to them and spend your hard-earned money on a rude establishment

Food is gross. 🤢 I ordered whiting and fries. No matter how much you season and fry hard frozen whiting I know it’s frozen!! Come on guys we’re up north. There’s no reason to use frozen fish ever!!!! If I could give this place a 0 I would. When I first walked in I wasn’t greeted. The restaurant was like a ghost town inside and I see why. This food is DISGUSTING! I ordered the fried catfish lunch dinner which comes with two sides. I got the collard greens w/ cabbage mixed along with macaroni and cheese. I also purchased an uptown as my drink which is lemonade and iced tea mixed. First thing that caught my eye was their prices inside on the menu are at least $4 cheaper than online which is ridiculous because we are ordering from THEIR WEBSITE! I received my food and the temperature of the food was good. I then checked my bag because I assumed I would receive a complimentary piece of cornbread due to the fact that it was not available for purchase online. There was no cornbread inside. I then saw on the menu that it would be $1.99 to purchase. I requested a piece, the gentleman rang me up and as I proceed to pay via Apple Pay he then tells me that there’s a $10 minimum to use a card which was nowhere listed in the restaurant. I showed him that it was not available for purchase online and he allowed me to use my card. Fast forward I look at my food and the portion size for $20 was a joke! The tray was literally the size of my hand. As per their menu I was to receive 2 pieces of catfish with my lunch sized portion. I received ONE cut up piece of catfish along with a scoop of macaroni and cheese and a scoop of vegetables. The catfish was soaked in grease. Once I ate a piece of it, it made me feel instantly nauseous. The collard greens and cabbage mix was decent even though it tasted like canned vegetables that they decided to add seasonings too. The cornbread was decent but dry. The macaroni and cheese was literally disgusting. I have never in my life had macaroni and cheese that I could not even bare to swallow until today. Absolutely HORRIBLE. The smell was horrible, it’s like they used cheap cheese and cheap ingredients all around. The last thing that I had to look forward to was my drink because in my mind how can you not correctly make an uptown right? Boy was I wrong. Even this was terrible. It had and aftertaste that literally tasted like maple syrup! I was so excited for this food today. I left my office to go pick it up and thought I was going to have a good lunch break. I said this to say my lunch break was ruined! I literally feel nauseous still as I write this. Anyone who has ever had real authentic soul food would know that this is not it!

Purchased a dinner on October 8, 2024. Take out had to wait twenty minutes for one meal. The collard greens were tuff, ox tails were tuff in a juice not gravy, mac and cheese had ox tail juice on it. Most of the time when you order a meal, roll or bread comes with it. This was not the case, if you wanted cornbread, it was two dollars additional.
After waiting so long for my takeout, I was given an order of cornbread.
Spending thirty-one dollars for one meal you expect a decent meal. One of the managers, said to me when I went back the next day with my concern about the meal. "They are not in the business to make everyone happy". The question should be, then, why are you in this business.
If you want the perfect meals done properly every time. This what a five-star restaurant have in place, so they get it right at lease ninety-five percent of the time. When cooking, they follow the same recipe at all times, and it's called being consistent and you received good results.
The same rule applies when baking, you follow the formula. You can't have staff coming in and putting their twist cooking/baking. When you refer someone, and you asked them how was your meal and you tell them. Their response, well, I apologized you didn't enjoy your meal, and it must have been a different cook in the kitchen. I said to them, it's ok, I just won't go back there again, and I won't refer anyone to that restaurant.
First sign I should have turned around was the terrible customer service uninviting almost seemed to be bothered my family and I wanted to eat there never greeted us and talked very rough and irritated sounding. Next was the tables not being cleaned properly from the party before us and food on and under the table, dusty fans blowing over our foods. Atmosphere was old looking very in need of an update. Food was absolutely down right terrible ox tails bone dry no sauce, dry recooked or rewarmed days old turkey wings very tough, pork chops refried and dry, bland dry greens and string beans tasted like they were canned, definitely canned yams yuck, Mac n cheese was dry bland and the kind you would get from a Karen. Not to mention we found hair in two different orders,totally messed up our order bringing out the wrong orders some of my party got their food a whole hour n half before others. When confronted about the quality of food, hair and long wait time the the older bald guy who was nasty from the start try to crack slick and almost had me beat him down in the restaurant in front of my kids when he fake tried to be tough. I’m the type that don’t write reviews I just won’t patronize your establishment anymore but I won’t others to know and for them to feel it in there pockets of the horrible time at there restaurant I encountered. Everything was really nasty or old tasting of the food we could eat or didn’t send back. And we ordered the whole menu not one thing was good maybe the Can Sprite was the best thing they had not even tap Sprite but that’s about right something that’s not from them was the best. DON’T EAT HERE RUN. TERRIBLE FOOD AND CUSTOMER SERVICE. UNCLEAN. NEXT I WILL BE CONTACTING THE HEALTH DEPARTMENT

Ordered via DoorDash yesterday and wasn't impressed after hearing good reviews about this place. I ordered 2 smothered turkey chop dinners- 1 with black-eye peas and cabbage and the other with potato salad and white rice
1. Wasn't enough gravy and the gravy was extra salty
2. Potato salad was outright disgusting no flavor what so ever straight mayo and potatoes
3. Cabbage needed more seasoning
4. They need to use a meat tenderizer/mallet to flatten the chop a little
5. The peach cobbler was more like peach cobbler soup and they dough was cooked and it was seasoned properly at all tasted like I don't know what but definitely wasn't a peach cobbler taste
