I've eaten hotdogs here since I was a kid....and I'm 60. I know that the place has always been Greek but I am not sure if it's always been the same family. I've always loved this little hole in the wall!

I’ve been eating here for almost 10 years. The food is OUT OF THIS WORLD. People use the word butter milk pancakes loosely. Theirs really taste like butter milk. Everything is good. Same chef for years. My only complaint is, They never open on time, they’ve actually been closed for a while with no notice. Shame because me and my girlfriend are from out of town and waited outside for almost 2 hours. If they correct punctuality, I would give it five out of five stars because the food is phenomenal.

One of my favorites in Elizabeth. Been going for 20+ years. Great people, great service, and great food!

Grecian Cave caught my eye because I have a soft spot for hole in the wall diners. They have a charm that sometimes acts almost like a time machine to another era of culinary experiences. And at first, that's what Grecian Cave offered. It has bar seating at a counter that runs along the length of the restaurant's seating area with some tables on the side. The menu on the wall has plastic letters fitted into slots. No LCD here! From a pure "setting" perspective this place has old charm to spare. That's about where the charm ends. Wanting to get something healthy, I ordered the Greek Salad with grilled chicken. A lady took my order and at first all seemed fine. She was masked and seemed to be cleaning/organizing the area behind the counter. Then the (guy who I presume to be) the cook came out from the back. Dude had a mask on, which was comfortably wrapped around his chin. She told him my order and he set out to rinse his hands...for about 10 seconds. Then he moved on to begin making my salad: with his bare hands. He pulled out a quarter head of lettuce and began rough chopping it, seemingly ensuring to make sure his hands got on as much of the lettuce as possible. I stopped him and asked him if he could put on gloves. He muttered something to the lady and gave me a look of disgust. He searched for gloves (which in itself was disturbing) and reluctantly put a pair on. I asked him to dispose of the lettuce he had chopped and I sat closer to watch him work. It was at that moment I heard him muttering something about me in Spanish to the lady (I may not be fluent, but the word "Chino" and his grumbling attitude didn't require Masters in Romance Languages to understand). Eventually the salad was put together, but honestly I was so grossed out at that point I didn't even eat it. I paid, took it to go and tossed it. I would strongly recommend against visiting this place. There are plenty of other eateries in the area.

YUMMY, fast service, great little vibe. Food is awesome but could be just a bit yummier. It's OK though because it's so inexpensive! You get a lot for your money and tastes and feels very healthy.
