I wish google had an option to give no star. This place deserves it and not because of the food but the staff. I feel so sorry for the staff over there, I don’t know if they have bad days but it really reflects on the work and in short they are all so rude. All of them. I am talking about the Playa Bowl in Newark AirPort. Below i would like to describe the whole situation.
I wanted to order a Dolce latte and wanted to know the ingredients of it and i called out for the lady in Hijab and she was like what you say and i repeated two times and she is like i don’t understand what she is saying (and she didn’t move a step to really listen to me) and she said her another colleague to understand and the other colleague rather then coming and assisting she just raised her voice from the place she was standing and said its written on the menu, so i just read it and placed my order . It was written on kiosk that when my order is ready they will call with the names.
However they called out the food names and many customers ahead me got confused even , because people are expecting there name, however i understood and i was just so attentive sitting right in front to get my latte and someone called for it and i replied back right here and till i went closer the another customer standing there took it , so i didn’t intervene and just patiently waited but after sometime it seemed like they have missed my order because it was almost 30-40 mins and people after me had left with their orders. So i go to the counter and ask for my order and tall lady (not the one with hijab) comes and starts shouting that i called for dolce latte so many times you never turned up, i said maam i am sitting right here and i didn’t hear and i was so surprised for the way she was shouting, never in my lifetime i have faced such a hospitality, i myself am chef and been in hospitality sector for about 6-7 years and i swear never seen any staff treating the customer like that. It feels like i was asking for free. Even if i didn’t hear there is a way person says , it ruined my day , i felt like crying just because someone one day woke up and thought lets make people’s day bad.
I cancelled my order and left, they said i will receive refund in a 24 hours. Anyways this has been a lifetime experience for me.
Just a mention that all four were rude but if i had to compare a girl little short than others who came later to the kiosk to take orders, was still better than others and apologised.
However i guess the ladies really need a vacation and some self care time. Good luck for the future.

Parking: I visited the Elizabeth location last night & the young ladies working were inattentive & seemed generally disinterested in customer service. This was a departure from the service I typically receive there.

My favorite place ever! Delicious bowls and smoothies 😋 my only recommendation is offering half bowl portions. Sometimes the full bowl is too much. Other locations in NJ offer half bowl for those looking for a smaller snack. Other than that I’m so glad to have a playa bowls 5 min from me 🥰🌴
