Service was amazing. I had a waitress who thankfully spoke spanish to help my mom order! She was kind patient and our orders came quickly. The prices shocked me, as they were very affordable for a good quantity of food! Me personally I loved the sushi and my mom enjoyed her chicken teriyaki. They also offered us free appetizers including chicken bites and steaks, salads and soups. The ambience of the place is very nice as well.

Only speaking to the food as Ive only ordered from here through uber eats. However, the food I ordered, the poke bowl with salmon and tuna was SO good. I was craving some type of bowl but it’s hard to find a lot of places with a BYO option but this place offers a pretty good deal and portions are fair!

I really love the food here and the wait staff here are very polite and kind. The atmosphere is also very calming and relaxing. I ordered the Rock Shrimp Tempura, Spicy Tuna & Avocado Appetizer, and Tiger Roll. Will definitely visit this shop again!!

I visited Mei Sushi today and had a wonderful experience. The restaurant is now under new ownership, and you can really tell the difference. The service was friendly and attentive, and the food was fresh and flavorful!

Mei Sushi offers a fantastic lunch menu with a great selection of fresh, high-quality sushi at fair prices. Their lunch specials are especially worth it! The indoor dining area features cozy booths, providing a more private experience where you can have a quiet conversation or even get some work done over lunch without interruptions. It’s also a great spot to bring kids, making it a versatile choice for both business and family meals. Highly recommended!

The food has good presentation, and good taste, except for the rice smell weird… I hope I don’t get food poison
We liked coming here but they must be under new owner/management. It is unsightly inside. Yhere are bags laying on a table and on the sushi bar and clutter on any flat surface . We had to request a wet rag to wash off our table because it was covered in something sticky. Even after the waitress wiped it off it was skeevy. Miso soup was watered down as well as the ginger dressing and tasteless on the salad. The spicy tuna roll was tasteless. The spider roll was ok and sushimi platter for 2 was good. No ice available for my water. Unfortunately, we will not return.
Parking: In front and large lot on the side of the building.

I've never had sushi in North NJ that I had to spit out because it was so not fresh. This was a disappointment, to say the least.

Restaurantji Recommends
This place used to be good prior to the pandemic. I want to like it, but it's difficult to recommend due to lackluster food and atmosphere.
I ordered three rolls: the futo maki, spicy tuna, salmon skin. My son ordered Special roll combo A: tuna roll, yellowtail roll and California roll.
The futo maki was large enough, however, it did not have the signature tang of pickled gobo/burdock that's characteristic of these rolls. The spicy tuna was not spicy. The salmon skin tasted ok, but it was chewy. I found the dressing for the salad unusual: a creamy ginger dressing. In my experience, sushi restaurants give you a choice of either a creamy or ginger dressing. Here, it's both.
Before Covid, Mei Sushi was a nice place to dine. During Covid, it was take-out only. These days (late Aug 2024), it seems like they barely recovered from that practice. I don't blame them too much -- I imagine that running a small business can't be easy, but it doesn't seem like they expect you to stay. There's a pandemic-era sign that says "Dine in with to-go container, NO service!". Despite that, we did receive plates and decent service. The middle of the dining area is used as storage.
Normally, I would say that if you don't care for the atmosphere, just order take-out. However, the food was just middling. I sincerely hope they can do better.

The sushi is very good, however, when ordering online 2 issues:
1. No payment available as credit card in their website (so either you accept the uber fees, you need to pickup or pay in cash)
2. For some reason, they have more than one websites. In one of them, they have a quantity offer of a free item. In others not. So if you are lucky, you get it. If not, you don’t.
Other than that, really recommend once is very fresh.
Disgusting sushi, absolutely killed my stomach. Do NOT order here. I’ve never had such a negative experience with sushi before.
