The place is always busy and the atmosphere is pleasant as well as the service. The food is good it's a little pricey but what you get it's worth it. I got Jimmy's special which consisted of two eggs, three strips of bacon, three sausage links, potatoes and 2 pancakes for $18.
We were at the West Essex Diner this Sunday, very hungry, and having faced with a 50 minute wait at The Original Pancake House, we were eager to chow down. It was very crowded but they managed the waiting guests very efficiently. There were 3 people ensuring that everyone gets seated as quickly as possible.

My wife and I had an early lunch at the west Essex Diner today. We’ve eaten here many times over the years and frankly the food, service and decor has had its ups and downs. The good news is it’s up again! The diner’s decor was fairly recently updated and it was given an upscale flair. Unfortunately upscale decor means upscale prices. Most standard diner items such as salads, sandwiches and egg dishes are $14-$18. Adding beverages, dinner for two including tip was $54....
