As always, a great dining experience. Food is grand, service impeccable and the ambiance quaint and original.
The cuisine and service was excellent as always, The specials were a variety of mussels. We had two different mussels. Both were excellent. There were six different choices.
Sophie's has been a go to for me for over 15 years. The food is always bountiful , the service friendly and efficient, the drinks crafted with care. There is a warm and homey atmosphere in this neighborhood gem that you seldom get in other places.
Good service and pleasant staff. Mushrooms in puff pastry and salads were good. Very good onion soup. Duck was only ok. Trout amandine did not taste fresh and was disappointing. Desserts nice. Overall seems tired and overpriced. Sorry , because I wanted to like it.
Have not been back since I was a frequent diner in 2004 and 2005 because we moved out of New Brunswick...food was as great as I remembered, one of the few excellent French restaurants in NJ with generous portions, wide variety of food choices and good wine selections. Peter came out to meet us and it was great to see him after 20 years.
Sorry Sophie's, although we usually rave about your place, last night was just uneven. Here's why, a $30 entree of soft shell crab should not be only one crab. You want to serve one crab, fine, then call that an appetizer. That was really disappointing. Thanks though for subbing pomme frites for the mashed at no extra charge, that was appreciated. And sorry, have to ding you guys that after letting you know the milk for the coffee had turned, the second attempt, was still bad. Come on, you can't have that. We still love Sophie's, we're just taking a break for now. Everyone is entitled to an off night.
Ambiance was quaint. Felt like you were in a small Bistro in Paris. Service was very good. Menu had all the favorite French fare, and the Onion Soup and Escargot were very good. Good main courses. Friendly and warm Restaurant. Very enjoyable dining experience.
Fantastic place! A large group was in town for a conference and Sophie's was wonderful in accommodating our large group of 20 on very short notice. The service was fantastic and the pasta was wonderful. I will absolutely return the next time I am in the area.
It's great to find a good place for lunch. Oh and even if you only want a burger, delicious!
We had a wonderful meal at Sophie's. Outstanding service and food, terrific ambiance. Would recommend to anyone.

First time dining here. 3 course Price fixed menu for Father's Day was a good deal. Mussels in garlic butter sauce for 1st course tasty not too salty. A lot of vegetarian options. 2nd course portions were adequate; soft shell crab, leg of lamb, pork chop prepared with good flavors & sides. Desserts were ok
Always a joy to spend time at Sophie's with incredible food and amazing cocktails... comfort, class and style without the pretense. Genuinely good people providing great service in an irreplaceable gem of an establishment. Franklin Township is lucky indeed.
Such a hidden gem of a restaurant. Delicious food, great wine choices, attentive service. And the ambience and decor remind me of being in Paris. I'm never disappointed at Sophie's Bistro
Sophie's Bistro is one of our "goto" places. Always the best onion soup anyone will find anywhere, excellent service, a pleasant wine list and a talented barkeep. We had a variety of fish, chicken and beef dishes, all delicious, prepared as ordered and arriving at the table hot, as expected. We were heading out to a place where desserts were going to be given out, so we just had some coffees and cappuccinos. Don't miss Sophie's Bistro.
Our dinner at Sophie's was wonderful as usual. Sophie's is one of my wife's and my favorite restaurant's . We dine here at about once a month . We love the atmosphere and the food as well as the staff. We both had escargot for the appetizer , deliciously prepared and presented. ( Be sure to use some of the bread to enjoy the garlic butter sauce !! ). My wife had the Steak Fritis Vert on the menu and I had the Grilled Yellow Fin Tuna from the special's menu. Both dishes were prepared perfectly for us. We always tell our friends and family that if they want French Cuisine Sophie's Bistro in Somerset , NJ is the place to go.
