“I’m in the area for just one night and needed to figure out where I could get a quick dinner. I saw Sophie’s Bistro and after getting a recommendation from a colleague, I made a reservation. It’s a really casual place; not pretentious in any way, but the bartender was both talented and conversational and made something off menu to enjoy. For dinner, I decided on French Onion Soup and Steak Frites and thoroughly enjoyed myself. Besides this, the bread service they bake in house is amazing and I learned about the owner and how he treats his people and that made me even happier that I came in. I wish we had a place like this where I live; I would be there all the time. I’m not sure when I’ll be back in the area, but next time I’m near Somerset, I know where I’ll do dinner. Give it a try, you’ll be happy”

“We had an amazing meal a few weeks ago at Luca’s! We were greeted and seated and waited on promptly. We brought our own wine in which they had no problem opening for us. The food was out of this world. Their meatball appetizer is everything you’ve heard and then some. Incredible sauce, bread service, and our meals were excellent. My partner had the octopus for an appetizer and said it was incredible. Both of our meals were amazing and served timely and piping hot. I had the chicken marsala with mushroom risotto, delicious! And he had the veal saltimbocca. The service was prompt, pleasant and just perfect, and the atmosphere is lovely. I highly recommend this restaurant!”

“If I could give it 10 stars, I would!! We came on Easter Sunday, everything in the area was closed. We came to Holy chick and couldn’t be happier. The inside decor is really pretty and inviting and not like a fast food place at all. The prices were amazing! The owner, Lee was so friendly and chatted with us for a while. Antonella, the server was so patient and friendly she explained everything so well. We ordered garlic knots to start, so light and fluffy. We also ordered pizza strips -small sized pizzas so you can try different flavors and not commit to just one. We ordered the Motown Margarita pizza strip. It was so fluffy and delicious. We also each got the chicken and waffles, it’s one chicken piece with a dipping sauce and a very sweet waffle that tastes like candy- no need to dip it in the maple syrup! We also ordered the season fries which were fries with chicken bites and sauce and coleslaw! We were so excited about the food we didn’t even take pictures we just dove right in! Can’t wait to come back. It’s a MUST try!”

“Make no mistake, this is 5-star pizza. Get a few “personal” pizzas for variety: a cheese, a white, and maybe a mushroom or pepperoni - well done. Absolutely the best in Somerset area. If you stop there for lunch, their slices are quite big, you only need 1. And the chicken fingers are a MUST. We just love Amici’s. I recommend calling them directly and pick up, or ask for delivery. “This is their 2nd location, the first being in Edison, NJ. I had lived in Edison, and this sub shop was a long-time favorite with lines out the door. We were in the Franklin Park area, a 2nd location, on a weekend, a d decided to stop in. We ordered their tuna sub, which had always been a favorite of mine. It seemed that nothing had changed. It was just delicious and good as I rembered frim my teen years growing up in Edison. Prices have gone up for sure, but still reasonable and worth it. I would highly recommend coming here.”

“Stopped in on Friday and the place was packed. We got a table ordered a beer and was surprised by how fast the beer came considering the crowd. At 6:00 we cashed out as our waitress Mary leaving. We couldn’t ask for a more attentive waitress. The next shift found us with Kelsey. She never stopped smiling. We never waited for anything. She was just there all the time. We ordered off the happy hour menu. Three different items and an all were served fast and delicious. The only thing is I would recommend coming Wednesday if you’re just coming for happy hour. “Nice bar restaurant at the end of a round. We were there on a Wednesday and it was empty. We order BBQ knowing that it was not going to be fresh as the grills were not going. That said the brisket and pulled port were still good. The sweet potato fries were good as well. Little crispy. We both should have order the bbq souce on the side. Too much on for our taste but we should have asked. Great bar with a large selection of whiskey and bourbon. Service was great too. I would go back. Like to see how it is when it’s fresh.”

Alright, folks, gather ‘round. I have a story to tell. I recently moved back to Jersey from Florida, and if you’ve ever lived in Florida, you know two things: 1) Alligators will steal your golf balls, and 2) They have no idea how to make good Chinese food. Seriously, I don’t know what’s going on down there, but I’ve had dumplings in Florida that tasted like they had an identity crisis halfway through cooking.

But then, this place happened.

I ordered (purely in the name of science, of course), and I swear on my fortune cookie—I have seen the light.

Let’s break it down:

Pork Fried Rice – Perfectly seasoned, fluffy, with that little hint of wok magic that tells me someone back there knows what they’re doing. This isn’t just rice; this is a lifestyle choice.

10-Piece Crabmeat Rangoons – I took a bite and immediately questioned every life decision that led me to eat subpar rangoons in the past. Crispy? Check. Creamy? Check. So addictive I’d trade my Netflix password for another order? Check.

Chicken and Broccoli – I think it hugged me from the inside. The chicken was tender, the sauce was divine, and the broccoli wasn’t that sad, overcooked mess some places give you. No, this was vibrant, fresh, and ready to be devoured.

Now, here’s the thing—I don’t just like this place. I am now in a full-blown, committed relationship with this restaurant. I will be talking about it at parties. I will be bringing out-of-town guests here like I personally own stock in it. And I will not rest until I have left a five-star review on every single platform known to mankind. Google? Done. Yelp? Already there. Carrier pigeon message straight to their kitchen? Give me time.

In fact, I’m already researching pigeon care because if that’s what it takes to support this mission, then so be it. I will foster a pigeon. I will name it Lo Mein and train it to deliver handwritten praise directly to the chefs.

And to anyone who dares say anything bad about this food—I’m convinced you have burned off all your taste buds. The only possible explanation is that you’ve been eating nothing but plain porridge your entire life and now mistake "flavor" for a personal attack. Seek help. Seek seasoning. Seek this restaurant.

Whoever is back there making this food, just know—I appreciate you. I see you. I love you. Expect me back. Probably too often. Possibly enough to be concerning.
