This was our first (but not last!) time dining at Finnbar. We enjoy walking around Frenchtown and often talked about eating at this restaurant so we decided to try it for our anniversary dinner. We were greeted at the door by the hostess who wished us a happy anniversary and after we were seated, a server presented us w/ a lovely champagne toast. Finnbar specializes in vegetarian/vegan dishes and we loved all that we tried (very crunchy autumn vege salad was outstanding!). The restaurant has a lively and cozy atmosphere and everyone is so friendly. We will definitely return. Thank you for making our anniversary dinner such a special evening.

I have specific requests about food, namely, that they not have added salt, no pepper or hot spices. Our server, James B, began the ordering process by asking if anyone had any food, allergies or specific needs. I told him of my specific requests, and he carefully went through the items on the menu and made sure that they were met. I received seasonings and sauces on the side. I was quite satisfied and he made me feel very comfortable about wanting things a certain way. The servings there are not huge, but they are tasty and they are also filling. We would happily go back there again. I enjoyed a crunchy, autumn salad, as well as pork shoulder. The ice cream I had for dessert was very refreshing mint and was not at all heavy, which is what I prefer. My husband had pasta Putanesca, which he enjoyed. His dessert was a rich bittersweet chocolate pot de creme with hazelnuts and it was fantastic. The dining room was simply furnished and relaxing.
