great concept and food. Management is great! Little obsessed with Harry Potter but it smacks.

We were looking for a place for dinner and came across Chit Chat. Everything was very good. Service was great and the food was delicious. Would definitely come here again.

My friend and I came in for lunch. We both had soup which was good. Then shared 2 appetizers - the calamari and the chicken spring rolls. She thought the calamari was okay but i did not like it. The sauce was on the spicey side, which was ok - but it was also overly salty. The spring rolls neither of us liked. The filling was basically totally ground chicken and there were no discernible vegetables in them. Our Server was polite and friendly. Would try again, but definitely order something else.

I went 8am with a friend on a Sunday and it was not busy. We were seated right away and served right away. The food was quite good and it was a great experience. It was pricey but no different than any other place.

I visited this diner because I used to go there years ago, it was nearby my father's house and we were in the mood for diner food. We basically ordered sandwiches which usually include a side (French fries) and 2 iced teas. Everything tasted OK, but I was disappointed that the pastrami and corned beef sandwiches we ordered had very little meat. They were accompanied by a pretty small cup of fries. When we finished, the bill came to almost $50. Upon inspecting the check I saw that they charged 6 dollars a piece extra for the minuscule fries and had the gall to charge me an extra 1.75 for one slice of cheese. Also of note, I had to hunt down the waiter for the bill after sitting finished for about 10 minutes. It was not crowded. Based on this, I would not recommend this place. The value and service were poor.

The second best diner in New Jersey we had heard, so we had to check it out. Being vegetarian our options were limited, but we got something nice nonetheless. We had the Toasted Cheese Sandwich, the Veggie Wrap and the Pina Colada Cake. All were delicious. Very good service too. The wrap was pricey at $17.95. The two other items were $7.95 each. The main attraction was the diner itself, and the unique décor. Very popular. Free parking out back. I would like to have seen more vegetarian options and even some vegan ones too.

I had gone to the Chit Chat diner in Hackensack numerous times. For the most part of I’ve liked eating there although I have felt that over the last couple of years that their food was becoming more average. But when I went a few days I had a really lousy experience. My daughter ordered the Chit Chat sampler. The chicken fingers were greasy, soggy, breading way too thick. Mozzarella sticks were so so. The fries were soggy and greasy. The búfalo wings were very fatty. All four items were clearly frozen before being cooked. When waitress asked if everything was ok, I told her my daughter was very disappointed, leaving more than half of her food uneaten. She said she’d get the manager to come over. I was totally shocked how he handled it. The right thing to have done that any decent restaurant would have done was to say I’m sorry, can I get you something else. He had the nerve to look at my daughter disapprovingly and said well I can get you another order of the same thing. Why would she possibly want more of the same thing?! I asked if she could have something else and he said no. He then left. I was flabbergasted. I decided to leave my table and go talk to him. I told him what a lousy look it was for the Chit Chat diner to not do the right thing. He then had the gall to say, well she ate more than half of it. I couldn’t believe it. She’s a kid, she didn’t know better. I expressed to him that he could still do the right thing. But he refused. What an ass. When I paid at the register I mentioned what happened. One of the staff overheard and said oh it must have been Andy. Then the cashier said he could give me half off of her dish. But then apparently he got on the phone with someone he said was the owner who told him no, don’t reduce the check. Really?! Definitely not the Chit Chat diner I used to know. What a crappy overall experience, and so surprising.
