I placed an order in-person for takeout. Friendly staff I ordered the breaded chicken and chose white rice and beans as my 2 sides that came with the entree, and also got an order of tostones. Pollo Empanizada- Delicious and crispy White Rice- possibly the BEST white rice i've ever had. Moist and fluffy. I loved it! Frijoles- So watery and oniony. Tasted soupy. Tostones- Thin and crispy, yum! I had asked for a side of garlic sauce to dip my tostones but I didn't get it. Instead they added a mini container of hot sauce and mayo/ketchup.

Just ordered empanadas, chorizo, chicharrón, buñuelos pan de bono y chocolate and wow starting with the empanada was so crunchy on the outside and delicious. The chorizo was cooked so well. The pastries were fresh and delicious as well. I go all the time to eat here but order arepas rellenas which are awesome but this is the first time ordering breakfast and getting delivered and wow has just became my favorite place.

Citrus Cafe in Hackensack, NJis a colombian Cafe & Bakery. Very popular among the Latino population. Great coffe, pastries and natural tropical fruit drinks. I recommend it. Daniele MATTEO

I decided to give them a try Sunday morning. My husband and I got coffee (mine was cold because they weren't smart enough to heat the milk). We also ordered mystery empanadas. The mystery was what kind of meat was mixed with the sloppy mashed potatoes. To top it off we ordered bread pudding. It was horrible and probably old. After passing gas all night I woke up to a face full of pimples. If you eat anything from this place after reading this, you deserve whatever you get!!! I know they will never see me again!!

I ordered the CAZUELA PAISA and ooooomg it was fire. Clean well kept place quick bite for lunch in Hackensack and girls working the counter were lovely.

My co-worker and I go here for lunch when we have a half day with our students. The waiter is always sweet. We order fairly plain food since we are always counting calories so the thin, grilled chicken breast and some salad and a bit of rice and beans and we head back to work. The food is simple, fresh, and served with a smile. There are a lot of mixed reviews here but I think they are looking for more that the place would ever be offering. Its a nice place for a quick lunch and you are supporting small business instead of a big corporate chain restaurant.

I ordered through UberEats and I am not happy with what I received. I ordered the Cazuela Paisa and it wasn't what I expected at all. The plate is suppose to include, rice, beans, ground beef, corn, avocado, sweet plantain, chicharron and chorizo. Well the rice and ground beef was flavorless and so dry and there was barely any beans at all. There was no sweet plantain. There was literally 5 small pieces of chicharron (I got 2 and my son 3) as well as chorizo. And a few scattered pieces of avocado and corn. It really just wasn't good at all. A $12.50 rip off. The empanadas the beef was dry and no flavor at all. I'm convinced they ran out of spices. I have been in person and I wasn't please with their customer service and after this order I don't believe I'll be ordering again.

Bad customer service. One instance where I went there I ordered a salad, after waiting for 20 minutes I asked how much longer just to be told my order was not put in- so I just got my money back bc they already made me late for class. This time I order mini empanadas, and again it's taking a long time. All the while the employee and who I assume is the owner is laughing and making jokes behind the counter and constantly looking in my direction. Upon asking how much longer I was ignored and the owner made a comment to the employee. I asked again and he gives a glance at his watch and tells me 12 minutes and I had already been waiting 15. As soon as I start making a deal about it the girl comes out with the food. 3rd time won't be the charm, I definitely felt a racist tone here but I'll keep my race card in my pocket. There's way better Columbian restaurants on the same block

This review is strictly for their tres leches (milk cake) desserts . I have yet to try their entrees. I came across this restaurant about 2 years ago when someone recommended me to try the bakery selections. They were located across the street, and at a smaller location. The cheese empanadas were very crispy, not bad. But could have used more cheese filling. I never went back until this year when a Vietnamese Pho restaurant opened up nearby. So now it's mandatory for me to pick up a dessert from these guys bc there are no dessert options on the Pho menu. The new location is clean and decor is unique. There Are two door entrances up front ( probably combined two store fronts for their restaurant. The sponge cake is light enough to absorb three kinds of milk: evaporated milk, condensed milk, and heavy cream. The whipped cream topping is very airy. The Clear Hinged Take-Out Containers - 20 oz does not keep the liquid in. And the cake can sill if not carelessly place flat. The cake doesn't taste the same without runny milk for the cake to soak up. I also recommend the chocolate Tres leche version, which has a chocolate ganache like layer. The restaurant also refers to this cake as "tiramisu"except without the coffee flavor.

This place has really good empanadas! This review is mainly on the empanadas. I recommend the cheese empanadas. They are greasy (all empanadas are) but you don't feel gross after eating it. The breads and pastries are really good and fresh. They do take out for the empanadas and pastries as well as being able to sit and eat in. It's a nicely decorated and clean restaurant. The employees are nice.
