I went to enjoy a tasty veggie burger my sister bragged about. She was right. It is delicious. Houston’s veggie burger appears to be prepared in-house versus a plain frozen patty. My mom enjoyed their trout… yummy! The presentation of the food was great (see pics). The service was excellent, professional, and friendly. It appeared that all staff were happy to help even though we were not their table. We appreciated the great service. The restaurant is beautiful with a very relaxing atmosphere. I’m am looking forward to going back… and it is not just for the wonderful key lime pie… though it has a lot to do with it!
Always good. Can't go wrong with Houstons.
Very busy after the theaters let out.
Always super good! The burger and French dip are amazing!
kicks out families who have autistic children. avoid at all cost.
⭐ 1-Star Review – Discriminatory and Unprofessional Management If I could give this Houston’s zero stars, I would. My friends and I came in for dinner expecting a good meal and a nice atmosphere, but what we got was blatant discrimination and some of the worst customer service I’ve ever experienced. We were enjoying our meal and got into a lively conversation, even reenacting a scene from a movie, which made us laugh and raise our voices a little. The restaurant was practically empty—only two tables occupied—yet the manager came over and rudely told us we were being “disruptive to the entire restaurant” and needed to pay our check and leave immediately. She didn’t ask us to lower our voices, didn’t try to handle the situation professionally—just an outright demand that we go. When we asked her why she was being so curt and didn’t just ask us to quiet down, she refused to answer—especially in front of the only other table, where the guests happened to be white while we are Black. When we mentioned calling corporate or disputing the charge, she made it clear that she didn’t care and walked away. Trying to resolve things, I approached her again privately, but instead of addressing the issue, she doubled down, saying if I didn’t leave, she’d call the police. Then another so-called “manager” jumped in, telling me if I didn’t like the treatment, I could leave—and that if I didn’t, they would call the police. And guess what? They did. When the officers arrived, even they saw through the nonsense and sided with us. Imagine having a restaurant call the police on paying customers just because we were enjoying ourselves a little too much for their comfort. This place clearly has no problem treating Black customers with hostility while letting others enjoy themselves without issue. The management at this location is unprofessional, dismissive, and outright discriminatory. I’ve been to Houston’s before, but after this experience, I won’t be returning—ever. If you believe in fair and respectful treatment for all customers, you should think twice before giving them your business.
Kicked a family out for having a young child with autism. Disgusting
Review of Houston's Restaurant in Hackensack
I had a very disappointing experience at Houston's in Hackensack that I feel compelled to share. My son and I waited for over two hours to be seated, while we noticed that several white customers were allowed to sit down without reservations.
When I brought this to the attention of the person at the front desk, she dismissed my concerns and claimed that those guests had reservations. However, I overheard one of the individuals being seated say that they did not have a reservation at all.
This experience left me feeling disheartened and frustrated, as it seemed to reflect a lack of fairness and equal treatment. I believe it's important for restaurants to provide a welcoming environment for everyone, regardless of race. I hope management takes these concerns seriously and works to ensure that all customers are treated with the same level of respect and service.

Always great consistent food. Friendly attentive staff. One of the best French dip sandwiches. Always a wait but well worth it. Make sure you get dessert.

I recently visited this restaurant twice, and both experiences were outstanding! ?The first time, my friend and I were served by Alex, who was incredibly friendly and attentive. She took great care to explain the menu, especially since my friend has a peanut allergy, ensuring our selections were safe.
I enjoyed my time so much that I returned on my birthday with another friend. Making reservations was easy, and April, thoughtfully suggested menu items based on our preferences.✨
The food was just as delicious as I remembered. Our salads crispy and that chicken so juicy, and my friend's dinner special was perfectly seasoned. We savored each bite in blissful silence. ?For dessert, I indulged in a warm chocolate brownie topped with vanilla ice cream. My absolute favorite as a chocolate lover!
The atmosphere was fantastic, and I can't wait to return with more friends. Highly recommend!!⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
