Ambience was great. The server rushed us to order, didn't show he had time to even walk us through the menu. The food was the biggest disappointment. My sea bass was unevenly cooked...overcooked in some places and the shrimp was dried out. So Christmas dinner was meh:-(

Always an inviting spot. Spur of the moment plans, no issue with reservations. Service was professional, waitress was attentive. Our meals were well prepared and served at the proper temperature. Prices have climbed noticeably, so the freight was a bit steep. Overall, a very good experience.

I've dined at this restaurant about a dozen times and it's always has been very tasty and pleasurable. My last visit which was part of a birthday celebration was good however the quality of some of the items appears to have dropped, or was really off this one visit. I definitely will be back and hope it they were just having an off day.

We had a party of 6 adults and one child. After we ordered our appetizers, it took a long time for the server to come back and take our entree orders. We had almost finished our soups by the time he came back. The clam chowder was way too thick and all you could taste was the cornstarch and heavy flavor of bacon, you couldn't even taste the clam. The lobster bisque was too salty and too watery. My 4 year old loved his mac and cheese which I did appreciate them having options for children. When our entrees finally came we were so hungry that we didn't send anything back. My husband's shrimp scampi was very lemon heavy, almost to the point of being inedible. My lamb was underdone but the flavor was good. My parents were unhappy with their entrees as well. For the prices on the menu we expected much better. They took a very long time to come with the check. We did not stay for dessert.

Special Birthday for my husband. Nice custom birthday note on menu, romantic table setting for two. The oysters were amazing, the food was superb. Our waiter wasn't the best kept forgetting things but noticed that other waiters were quite on point. Didn't affect the rating as everything else was great.

Another win! Oceanaire consistently hits the marks. Drinks, apps, mains. Picture this: huge lobster chunks wrapped in crispy hush puppy. Then picture that on a bed of cheesy grits with sweet-hot sauce around the outside. That was my main. Wife's simple grilled salmon basted in butter was superb. And don't miss the lobster bisque. It's habit forming. Julio our waiter was great, also.

For starters: Fried calamari had no flavor. Spanish Octopus was delicious. Rockefeller Clams and crab cake were amazing! Main course: Chilean sea bass was mediocre. The actual cut of the fish was tiny! Flavor (even with the additional enhancements) was missing something. Cuts of steak were also blah (we had the rib eye and NY strip) But can't blame them, who goes here for steak? The flavor was 6 out of 10. Table side Holland Dover Sole lacked flavor. I guess our waiter was being trained during our dinner so they took their time preparing it table side. By the time it was plated on the table the fish was cold! We also felt like they took half of this fish with them. Kid sized portion. Chicken fried lobster is definitely a NO! Too much flavor lacking breading on the lobster. Our waitress definitely needs more training before leaving her on own. She rushed us to place the order since the kitchen was closing even though we had reservations. We were not walk ins. Never gave us the last call with the bar. We attempted to place another drink order and was told sorry the bar is closed. We attempted to grab our waitresses attention to no success as she was mingling with some sitting at the bar, right in front of the main entrance. Bussers also lacked as our water cup sat empty for a while, multiple times. The actual ambiance was really good. We had late reservations so the place was pretty much empty. We frequent Eddie V's that's literally 5 minutes away but decided to give this place a shot... never again! I fully recommend and prefer Eddie V's over this!

Fine Dining? Absolutely not.Sat down at the bar with two bartenders and got waters but waited over 15 minutes for our drink order to be taken. I don’t like to write this because the girls were friendly enough but thats about all. We finally got our drinks and had to wait quite a while for the oysters. Yes its Saturday but the place was half empty. I ordered the chef selected oysters with caviar. They came out after a long wait with no names, fine no big deal. They had ONIONS on them. RAW ONIONS. excuse me but anyone who actually eats oysters will understand how dumb that is. Even after I picked them off, all I tasted was onions. The girl did offer to get me a new order but I was starving an aggravated at that point. When we wanted to order an entree, we had to flag them down. When we wanted to order a second drink, we had to flag them down. We were 2 of 4 people at the bar and then just us!!!!! Super disappointing experience. We didn’t stay long because of this but I would have rather spent that money at Oceanos or RP and gotten real fine dining.

To put it in a nutshell- Oceana, like much of New Jersey’s culture, poses as something it’s not. The crisp white linens, gleaming glassware and cutlery, banquets and twinkly blue votives signaled the promise of a wonderful meal. However, all the Jersey glitz and glam cannot make up for expensive but entirely mediocre fare. We started with Clams Casino- five tiny clams sprinkled with cubes of too salty pancetta which totally obliterated any indication that the tiny clam was even present. My scampi over angel hair pasta was a weak and brothy amalgamation of overcooked spaghetti and rubber-ballish shrimp. The chopped salad was primarily iceberg lettuce, cabbage Cucumber and tomato bits dressed in an anemic vinaigrette that couldn’t mask the underlying chlorine taste that the veg was most likely washed in. My dinner-mate was reluctant to complain about her snapper (I was buying) but offered that i was o.k. we left dissapointed and just shy of $200 poorer.

Ambience was excellent. The decor is fresh and clean as one would expect. Attentive service but without being intrusive. Very impressed by having someone from the kitchen asking those who ordered steaks to cut and check that the steaks was cooked to the desire temperature. Personally have not seen this attention even at equivalent or higher level steak houses. The scallops were done very well but a bit pricey for the amount. The desserts were on point. The Espresso Express was unique and had great coffee flavors.

We wanted a booth and all the tables in the main dining room were seated . So the host offered us a booth in the bar area . The server was also the bar tender and she seemed overwhelmed as if she was too busy to serve in her section. After 20 minutes she walked up to our table and instead of being apologetic, she had a bit of an attitude. We reported that to management and left. When you're paying that kind of money for a meal you expect top notch service.

Very slow service. We ordered food, appropriate plates were not provided, after ordering and near the end of the meal they tell us they have no more rice for the sushi we ordered. Should have told us much earlier. Food came late. Overall not what is expected with prices so high. It seems today you can charge anything and no one is accountable
