Maria Bonita is a hidden gem tucked away two minutes west of Hackettstown. This place has improved 5fold since my last visit (which was still pretty good). I kind of have a rule when going to a restaurant like this one which is, stick to ground beef and avoid chicken. Because I normally order nachos, I decided to have something different. I ordered the Fiesta Mexicana which consisted of a ground beef taco, a chicken Tinga and a chicken flauta. I also specifically asked for no cilantro in anything. Big mistake on all counts. Highly recommend, the food and service here are fantastic. Items are made authentically and delicious. We tried the beef quesadilla (delicious), the taco salad and the chicken enchiladas rojas, everything was well made and fresh and the portions are generous. Jesse was warm, helpful and accommodating. Definitely will be going back.
