My family came here for YEARS (we’re talking since 2010) coming back home from the Jersey Shore and Custard Castle was always a STAPLE of a fantastic summer beach day. To my unfortunate surprise, with the new ownership the recipe for the custard is no longer the same (even if they say it is IT IS NOT!!!). I always get a black&white milkshake and once it was ready the lady hands me my shake and made a point to say “next time order it like a twist smoothie”. WHAT THE HECK IS A “TWIST SMOOTHIE” AND WHY DO I HAVE TO ORDER IT THAT WAY? Don’t waste your money here. 2 stars given for the benefit of the doubt hoping they get it together for their own sake!

Good selections of ice creme

The service was warm and friendly and the ice cream was actually very good. The only problem I had was that it cost $5 more to go there and then the one on route 50 in egg Harbor City which is called Custer's corner. That is where I usually go because if they are warm and friendly you get to know them year after year and their prices are better.

Great ice cream, large variety. Delicious.

Great ice cream, just would not recommend if you have nut allergies. They really just don’t seem to care if you have them and won’t try to accommodate you if you do have them. They made my sister feel like an inconvenience last year when we mentioned she had a nut allergy and the woman made her feel super uncomfortable to eat there again. Not sure if there was new management or new people in the back because we’ve been coming here since we were little and never had this issue before.

1) they take card now, which is amazing as I don't carry cash given how dirty it is and honestly unsafe.

2) the area is CLEAN, locally owned, lovely staff, efficient--5x faster than DQ.

3) the seating is far enough from the highway that God forbid anything happens, people are protected.

4) it's off a local highway and close to a few others. Yes, it's worth a 10-15min detour if need be!

5) I take my parents here weekly and they love it as well!

Old fashioned ice cream stand. Nothing has changed since 1972. The soft serve ice cream ("custard" in South Jersey ) is so delicious. Sundaes, dip tops, shakes, and a cute outdoor seating area. Cash only.
