The most important issue was the hygiene. Please do NOT place customers’ silverware directly on the surface of the table, it is unhygienic. Silverware should be placed on a napkin provided by the restaurant or left on the appetizer plates. Not everyone is willing to accept that.
The complimentary bread was cold, and they didn’t bother to warm it up. The appetizers were better; the chorizo was actually very good. However, the main course was disappointing. The meat smelled spoiled, and I’m not sure if it was due to how it was cooked or the quality itself, but the texture was tough and rubbery, not juicy at all, even though I ordered it medium. We were a group of eight, and although the restaurant was completely empty except for us, the service was very slow. The beans tasted like they were taken straight from a can and poured into a bowl.
The dessert was good, but overall, based on our experience, I do not recommend this restaurant.

We went to this restaurant for dinner. The lobster was overcooked, which affected the flavor, but in general was good.

Incredible 1st experience at Joia! Incredible service by Sam. Dinner was amazing. We got the big seafood platter and the Portuguese steak plate. Cannot wait to return!

I visited this place once and will never return. My wife and I ordered a meal, and just five minutes after it arrived, we were told they were closing. We were the only ones told to leave, despite others still being there. As a Hispanic couple of darker complexion , I’ll let you draw your own conclusions.

I’ve been to this place many times and have generally been satisfied with the food. However, I ordered delivery today and was shocked to find that the fried calamari had a strong smell of ammonia. This is not a case of poor cooking—it’s a serious food safety issue, as serving spoiled seafood can cause food poisoning.
This is completely unacceptable. I would not visit or order delivery ever again.

We visited Joia Restaurant this past week and tried their Bacalhau à Brás and the steak. The steak lacked salt, and so did the bacalhau. But the bacalhau also lacked pepper. It was very bland. The atmosphere was good and the service as well. Staff was friendly and attentive. Their flan was also good and the prices weren’t outrageous.
