Amazing food
Peruvian food was great and great service. No issues here.
Perfection in Hawthorne.
Ceviche was superb. The leche de tigre can have some real heat so experiment thoughtfully to find your perfect spice.
Lots of thoughtful details include some unique and lovely murals on the walls.
While you are there, pick up some aji and Peruvian chocolates.

La Chata Restaurant in Hawthorne is a nice little place for Peruvian food, away from the bustle of Paterson. The food is delicious, made really good, and well presentable. The ceviche was superb and very fresh, and the leche de tigre can have some real heat. The Lomo had a distinct flavor, the pork was fried perfectly, and the onion salad was flavorful. The sautéed noodles are wonderful, and the arroz Chaufa, lomo saltado, and seco de res are highly recommended. Prices are very good considering how big the portions are. The restaurant has unique and lovely hand-sketched murals on the walls and music straight from Peru. It is small and cozy but has traffic often. Pick up some aji and Peruvian chocolates while there.
