My experience at Pithari Taverna on a Saturday afternoon was 50/50. I was pleased to find that the restaurant was not overly crowded when we arrived, and we were seated right away. The ambience of the restaurant was lovely that added to the dining experience. As someone eager to try Greek cuisine for the first time, I was excited. We got with the kalamari tiganito as a starter, which was cooked well and tender. For our main dishes, we ordered the spanakopita and tigania. The spanakopita was delightful, with a crispy exterior and good filling. However, I was disappointed with the tigania that I ordered. The lamb lacked seasoning and was dry, which resulted in a bland taste. Despite this, I appreciated the great and friendly service from our server. In conclusion, Pithari Taverna offered a pleasant dining environment with friendly service, I found the food to be somewhat okay. The kalamari and spanakopita were enjoyable, but the tigania was bland for my taste. If you visit I recommend exploring other options on the menu.

Great authentic Greek food bringing the flavors of Greece to New Jersey! Staff are friendly and the food amazing! They also have a terrace outside so you can enjoy when weather permits. As a bonus, they are byob and a there's a small store next to it that sells wine. They also own the Greek pastry shop next door for your Greek pastry fix. Reservations are highly recommended as they are very busy towards the end of the week.

Food was really good. Great price, with solid portions. The spinach pie, baklava and octopus were great. Tzatziki and hummus were top notch. Stuffed scallops entree was not good, super salty. BYOB place which is nice. Would definitely reccomend. Service was good, staff were all friendly and accommodating.

Love, love, love this place for amazing Greek flavors. Every time I go I get a new appetizer and an entree to share, as the entrees could feed 2-4 people with plenty to eat. Every dish I get, I am amazed at the flavor they're able to achieve. I would have tried the whole menu If I were to remain in the area. Not to mention, any restaurant that offers complimentary food (here it's Pita and olives) as soon as you sit down is a plus for me. I love the vibe of the place and always loved the waitresses. The place is BYOB which I enjoy because it can get pricey, so having the option to bring your own wine is always nice.

I go here a few times a month. It's consistently great. Healthy, flavorful, whole food! Very happy to have something so local be so incredible. Plus the waitresses are all friendly, and the gentlemen that fill the water are very attentive. It's the small details I appreciate!

Went here after some rave reviews from friends. Food was over salted and quite extreme on flavors to the point my tongue was stinging from the lemon potatoes and lamb gyro platter.

For a special family dinner with an international visitor, this was a wonderful choice for an outstanding meal. We had a wide assortment of appetizers and enjoyed them all, especially the flaming saganaki and a delicious calamari. We hit all the major Greek food groups (lamb, chicken, seafood) with our entrees, widely shared and all pronounced excellent. We had enough room for a couple of desserts: baklava, rice pudding and honey-and-nut-topped yogurt. The hostess and waitresses were friendly and attentive. We're fans of Greek food, and Pithari is one of the best we've experienced. Next trip, we're hitting the Greek store next door!

Opa! What a great experience. We came here for a special family occasion, and the meal was outstanding. We tried a wide variety of appetizers, including the traditional flaming cheese saganaki. Our main courses spanned chicken, lamb and calamari, all of them excellent. We had just enough room for baklava, rice pudding and honey-and-nut-topped yogurt for dessert. With a friendly, attentive staff who gave a little extra attention to the toddler at our table, we had a memorable experience. Nice setting, too.

The food was not as expected. The lamb stew wasn't very tasty and was watery.

Enjoyed a cozy late lunch with two others. The Pithari seafood platter and stuffed scallops made for satisfying entrees, complemented by the Psari Elliniko and Tigania. While the Baklava was a tad too sweet, the Greek coffee added a delightful touch. Despite a language barrier with the busboy, the friendly waitress enhanced our dining experience. Overall, a great spot for a flavorful Greek meal with a variety of appealing entrees.Parking: Parking lot behind the building

I haven't been there in a while as my geography has changed but had the pleasure of visiting this week. It was just as amazing as I remember. All of the food we ordered was excellent. The cold spreads platter is one delicious taste after another. Even the pitas are amazing. I think their grill must be magic. We had the pork souvlaki and pancetta and ended with the most delicious Greek coffee and baklava. When the pancetta arrived, I thought by looking at it "this is going to be dry." I was so wrong. It was the juiciest, most tender piece of pork. And I don't know what those herbs were it was seasoned with but it was perfect. The chef is a genius. Our server, Alejandra, was delightful and charming and knowledgeable with all my questions. She alone would make me want to return. But the food!! So good and not expensive at all. Huge portions and lots to take home. This place is a true gem. Thank you for a lovely experience and meal.
