My wife and I are on the #eatjersey challenge to visit and have a meal in all 564 towns of NJ. We chose Tavern on the Lake for Hightstown, our 150th town.
Great eats and comfort food in a place that is at the center of the town. They have a fantastic beer selection on draft that rotates over time. For the fall season, we had a Hot Toddy and Spiked Cider. The French dip sandwich and crab cakes were great.

We are visiting the town and gave Tavern on the Lake a shot. We were not disappointed. It has a homey feel with a surprisingly wide variety of both bar foods as well as entrees and comfort food. Loved the pot-roast stew on mashed potatoes with green beans. Healthy portion and great flavor.
