If you want really authentic south indian food, home cooked and fresh - check this place out. Family run place, cooked with a big heart and lots of warmth. Try the filter coffee, parotta korma, and their meals - you won’t be dissapointed!

We were looking for a South Indian Food local or nearer to Hillsborough, VijayaVilas came in the search. Tried out a take out- food was better than all other restaurants in the closest proximity, "way better than Arusuvai and Mirchi in Edison as those are our options for party orders which they screwed up during our dine ins".. Vijayavilas stood by their commitment and prepared food for my Housewarming for about 50 people and overall everything was good, delivered at door at 7:30 AM.. Good luck and thank you for your service and good food.

We had Tava masala dosa Mystoee masala dosa and Parotta Kuruma. The most authentic and tasty food I have ever had in any Indian restaurant. It is a family run restaurant and the owners treated us like family members. I highly recommend everyone to try this place if you are looking for the most authentic south Indian dishes.

My first time visiting an Indian restaurant with some Indian friends who really know their southern Indian cuisine and I have to say, the food was amazing, so freshly made to order, with the nicest caring service and chefs. Would recommend this place for a fantastic authentic Indian dining experience. Looks like the middle of nowhere location, but you find a gem of a restaurant!

We accidentally came upon this restaurant while looking for a South Indian restaurant for mother's day. Let me start my saying that the food is of really good quality. Most of the dishes we ordered were very tasty and brings back memories from home. The owner was very friendly and we had a pleasant lunch. I would however personally recommend this place for take out only. It was an unusual experience for us to walk into a restaurant with untidy tables and chairs, an easy chair, a blanket and cup of coffee in the middle of the restaurant. We called the previous night to reserve a table, so they were infact expecting us - yet didn't feel the need to clean up the place and set up the restaurant. First impressions are very important for the service industry and though we ended up having a tasty lunch, the restaurant didn't leave a good impression. Everything took a while to get ready because they literally make everything from scratch - fortunately for us, we were not in a hurry to be anywhere. Also not everything on the menu was available to order. We had to work with what they had in the kitchen. So bottom line is, this is a great place for tasty, fresh, authentic South Indian food but not for dining in. Well not unless you have the day to wile away. I will definitely be ordering from here again to take home and enjoy some fresh home style food.

The food is really good. One can tell that they make everything fresh and use fresh ingredients. All their south Indian dishes are top notch, however the sambar tends to be a little underwhelming. And their biryani fell a little flat as well. The online menu is confusing, so it's hard to tell how much $ a particular order will come out to be. I have had surprises on a couple of times I have ordered from them. Overall good food, but a little pricey!

Very authentic , fresh , tasty, high quality food in NJ. I have tried other so called premium restaurants in NJ but this restaurant beats in food quality and taste. I haven't seen any use of the preservatives or food colors. I have tried both dine and take out. Even better, if you call them 3 hrs ahead, you can even order the items that are not on menu and they will prepare it. The only con is when we ordered take out, they gave in foam and plastic containers, I would rather prefer paper/ environment friendly ones and am ok if they charge extra for these containers.

Finished our sourland preserve hike and called to ask if they still take in customers and if there would be any delay in serving food. We were assured we will be fine. "10 minutes tops" they said. When we were seated assured again that food will be faster. Ordered masala vadai and it took us almost 20 minutes. This is the first place to tell us that aapam will be faster than a dosa(really?!?!?)Aapam was not where close to warm. When asked he said from kitchen to table it got chilled (?!??). It's frozen aapam, canned coconut milk and chilled coconut chutney. My friend ordered dosai . Batter was mixed with Maida flour. He kept assuring us that everything is made fresh. I cannot believe that we don't get a quality good for the amount of money we pay..Finally..hygiene. he seems to be only one around. Fingers full of vada flour and Dosa batter and when talking he kept putting his hands in his pockets.Totally a let down. Never again!!!!

Really good food. Excellent taste and great quality. Had authentic South Indian food after a long long time. There was only one downside, the portion was quite less for the price charged.

I enjoy everything from Vijaya Vilas, from authentic food, to the taste of Mudari and chetanad cusine fresh and home cooked. Both Vijaya and Sikar take personal interest in welcoming their customers, and serve homestyle dishes with fresh coffee. If you enjoy home made vadas, idlly, dosas along with home made biryanis this is a great local spot. I hope you enjoy Vijaya Vilas.

We had lunch yesterday afternoon, with our surprise, the food was excellent.I had rava dosa and my wife ordered Mysore masala. The food was cooked with perfection and care with no over powering oil or ingredients, just balanced. Enjoyed the conversation with the owner. It appears that he is passionate and care for the quality. We wish him best, need quality places like Vijaya.

Fantastic food. Ordered take out veg meals and this was as close to home made as I ever felt. One meal was enough for 2 and the take out pizza box made it so easy to carry. Nandri sir. Note that place is slightly hard to find, entrance is not on SouthBranch Road.
