Great pub, lively atmosphere & amazing band (evening before St Patrick's Day), Pub is deceptively huge.Nil points for food as the kitchen was closed, which was fair enough considering it was St Patrick's weekend, I enjoyed a liquid dinner of the finest Guinness.Highly recommend and I can't wait to come back.

This is a pretty standard Irish-themed Hoboken bar (calling it an "Irish pub" would be generous), off the beaten path, close to my house. I've typically avoided this place because on weekends, they charge a cover ranging from $10-20. The large space in the back is a music venue with a stage. However, given that most bar patrons are going to spend $50+ on food and drink, turning customers away from an out-of-the-way venue with a cover is something I perhaps don't have the restaurant/bar business acumen to understand. Maybe the profits are worth the lost revenue from customers who won't pay covers to have drinks at the bar while a no-name garage band plays "Stacy's Mom" in the back room. Then again, I strictly abide by my personal "no lines, no covers" rule for choosing an evening venue, so maybe that's just me. I recently visited on a Wednesday evening for a casual dinner and some beers, since the place is close to my apartment. I've been here before for drinks, never for a meal. Standard pub fare, standard prices. Nachos, wings, quesadillas, mozzerella sticks, burgers, wraps, salads etc. with shepherd's pie thrown in there as a nod to the Irish decor. I ordered the reuben and I have to say, it was quite good. Not a huge stack of corned beef, but decent amounts, and the bread tasted like real farmhouse bread, sliced thick, toasted and buttered. The fries were right out of the fryer. I was actually pretty impressed. The outdoor dining area was understaffed, with a single waitress scuttling around the tables, having to humor the tables of men trying to flirt with her, so service was a little slow. After waiting 10 minutes for the check, I simply paid at the bar, accepting the apology from the waitress who was now dealing with bar patrons. Not her fault. It wouldn't kill the management to have another server working the dinner shift, but maybe it got unexpectedly busy on that particular Wednesday, especially with all these Zog people now mobbing bars after their weeknight kickball games. Given that it's unpretentious, serves pretty good food, and far from the Washington Street bustle and dickery (and 2 minutes from my door), I want to say that Willie McBride's is a hidden gem if they can get smarter about charging covers.

Great spot to go late at night and hang out with some friends to play some drinking games. What have to go back to test the food, but the weekday happy hour deals are great, personal pitchers all the time.

A lovely bar/pub located in Hoboken. We've been there on a Friday's evening. By 9pm there weren't many people there, but 2 hours late the place was crowded. Delicious food - the Cordon Blue Chicken was a nice surprise - and we were served by a very lovely lady. There was a local band - The Beverlees - playing there, and it was so fun! Only the sound quality could be a bit better. In any case, a great place to have some fun and good music.
