Great food and drinks with exceptional service. This is an authentic Mexican restaurant that serves real Mexican food rather than bland Tex-Mex. I love this place and have never had a bad dish. Friendly, family run, spotless, and a gem in Lake Hopatcong.

This place is great! Food cannot be beat by any means of Spanish/Mexican cuisine, period! Every time we go, Francisco (the owner) always greets us. Atmosphere is very good. We live close, and go there pretty often. A lot of food to choose from on menu. THEY ARE ALWAYS PACKED TO THE RAFTERS ON FRIDAY, SATURDAY, SUNDAY. People know good food...... it sells itself!

I’ve been to Chapala’s 8 times and each time is better than the last. The food is outstanding and service is excellent. Great drinks too! I absolutely love their backyard courtyard seating!

It was excellent. Everything was fresh and everyone very friendly. I thought the prices were fair. All combos for dinner were 20 including rice and beans. Our waiter Carlos was very friendly and helpful.

Good service- fresh but skimpy servings. Desserts so-so. Not impressed. Too pricey for Mexican take out type food.

So I will start by saying that we love this place. Food and service (generally) is always great. This review is based on the service we recieved tonight by (im pretty sure, the manager or owner, as he was our server). I got a "casasmigos margarita " with light lime juice (bc sometimes is way to heavy handed on lime, and I like to taste the actual drink, not just lime and its too sour to drink). My husband always gets "the Cadillac margarita" which is generally always made pretty well. Well tonight there was A LOT of lime in the margarita, and my husband counted drink it because it was way to sour and that's all you tasted. So we told our server, with the expectation of him saying that he will get another one made (which would be normal). He was kind of arguing with my husband saying that (well the you asked for lite lime juice in the casamigos and didnt say anything about the Cadillac. I mean do we really have to? Make your margaritas correctly and we shouldnt have to say anything. So my husband said, well there's to much lime and I cant drink it. The server then said (I mean it's a waste of a drink, it's not like we can take the grand marnier bottle out bc it's already opened ". Yeah we get it's a waste of a drink, (which sucks) but it was made with way to much lime and it's too sour and we cant drink it. So my husband was getting tires of getting bantered, so he just said, "I'm fine with the water, its fine". The waiter said "if you want me to make you another I will, it's just a waste of a drink". At this point my husband was getting pissed and just wanted the server to go away bc it was unnecessary the way he was reacting. So, we co ntined to order our food and my husband order the chicken fajitas, like he always does bc they are so good. Then the server says, "do you want it without lime, bc we marinade the chicken in lime and a white wine sauce". I responded for my husband (bc he was pissed), no he will take it as is bc it's good. The server KEPTasking him (are you sure you want the lime, etc). At this point if I couldnt have asked for the manager I definitely would have, but like I said, I'm pretty sure this guy was the manager. So, the food comes out and it "the fajita without lime", so naturally then I asked for a side of lemon wedges since apparenttly that's how they normally make it and it's always good. I mean his was very odd behavior from a manager (or owner) and no unnecessarily petty. It did t leave a good taste in our mouths and was out of character.

Best Mexican food in NJ. The Shrimp Enchiladas in green sauce was phenomenal, as were the chicken and steak quesadillas. They really cater to little ones, my 2 1/2 yr old granddaughter finished every bit of her chicken quesadilla. Servers were freindly and very efficient as well. I highly recommend this place!

Never disappointed. Food is great and although it can get quite busy they still seem to manage and keep it moving. Drinks are pricey but good

We popped in one night for dinner about 1.5 years after it opened. It was crowded for a random Tuesday but not overly loud. The food is expensive for Mexican cuisine but it was well prepared. You get a decent sized portion but its not gargantuan. N.B. they charged me $2 for a side order of sour cream that was tiny. I doubt we’ll become regulars but the food was tasty enough. The variety is over the top. The multi-page menu is almost overwhelming with the sheer number of choices. There is something for everyone on this menu. My favorite feature was the tables. Each is unique with a scene embedded into the top. The wood is topped with a heavy coat of polyurethane making for easy, sanitary clean up. I thought they ruined the back of the chairs though by embossing everyone with a carving of the restaurant name. It made it all feel cheap (cheesy in a bad way, not a gooey nacho way). Ironically these heavy customized chairs most likely cost a fortune. I initially felt sorry for the owners. They opened right before Covid & the 2 prior restaurants in that space didn’t do well. I think this place will be around for a long time.
