My boyfriend and I came here Friday night to celebrate Valentine’s Day early. We had a 9:15pm reservation and the place was packed as expected on a holiday weekend. We parked at Newport South Garage, which was very convenient (a 3-minute walk tops).

We were seated in the main dining room near the entrance which was beautifully decorated and cozy live music played throughout our dinner.

The food was amazing. I had the sea bass and my boyfriend had the halibut — both great. The marsala glazed mushrooms were honestly the best mushrooms I’ve ever had.

Our server, Bobby, was amazing. It was a very busy night and you could tell there was a lot to juggle, but he remained kind, genuine, and attentive throughout the evening. The kind of customer service that goes a long way.

We’ll definitely be back!

The Valentine’s course ($159 per person) felt overpriced and underwhelming. At a glance of menu, ordering appetizer, pasta, main, and dessert individually would have cost about same or less.

The service was good and the atmosphere is excellent. The live Jazz band was especially enjoyable.

The oyster appitizer sacrificed minimal balanced taste for creativity. Both pasta options disappointed, one overly salty and oily, the other too sweet. The mains were average at best, and the prawn seemed undercooked (unclear if intentional, but about three hours after dinner, both my girlfriend and I experienced diarrhea). The pistachio mousse brownie cake were actually the only item that lives up to the expectation.

But overall, by the standard of average brasserie/bistro in NJ, today's food fell significantly below expectations.

Everything about this place is great! Food is really delicious, super affordable for lunch. Recommend the mortadella and chicken sandwiches. The view of manhattan you cannot beat. Staff is super attentive and they have my favorite wine, sancerre. Their espresso martinis are very good as well!

I cannot think of a better restaurant in Jersey City! Fantastic service, menus that are always fresh, and a breathtaking view. 10/10 would recommend to anyone staying in the JC area.

We were invited to a wedding at Battello’s in Jersey City and everything about the event was fantastic. The food, service, ambiance and the views of New York City made our experience at Battello’s an absolutely joyous experience. We’ll definitely return to the restaurant since it’s the perfect place for a romantic dinner. And if you’re planning an event, the staff and service was spectacular.

Place has a great view! But the food was outrageously expensive, absurdly salty and small. Went there hoping for a great experience but was truly disappointed!

Don’t even know where to start! The view from the restaurant is beautiful and the restaurant itself is a sight. The food was incredible. I ordered the focaccia, creste di gallo, and cheesecake and loved it all. The presentation was also beautiful for the food. The service was also phenomenal. Katrina was my waitress and checked in regularly to ensure I was receiving what I ordered and I was enjoying it. Katrina was the best waitress and Battello has the best service I’ve ever experienced. Made my trip to Jersey City! Cannot recommend enough.

Overall, it’s overpriced for what you’re getting and some dishes are not worth it. Views and ambience are great. Very loud establishment, felt like we had to yell to talk or listen to one another and same with the couple next to us.

Felt like we were rushed in terms of meals coming out. Could have all been said and done in an hour at their pace, which is ridiculous.

1. Focaccia bread: 9/10 delicious, but not worth $14
2. 0, very small and not milky. It’s too dry. Not worth $25 lmao
3. Short rib pasta: 7/10 pasta was good, tasty juices, meat didn’t look or taste like short rib. Looked like steak tips? Odd..
4. Lobster risotto: 8.5/10 delicious but not worth $85 for the portion of lobster. Should be $65. Presentation was lacking. Don’t know why there were taro-like chips on it?
5. Side of vegetables: 0/10 absolutely awful. Dry, BURNT, no flavor. Looked like frozen vegetables that someone air fried for too long. Actually terrible
6. Gelato: amazing 10/10, pistachio was a delight
7. Mocktail: watery 2/10
8. Dirty martini: no olive juice 3/10 boyfriend did not finish it

Battello is an absolute gem in Jersey City. The waterfront views are stunning, the ambiance is elegant yet welcoming, and the food was outstanding from start to finish. Every dish was beautifully presented and full of flavor.

A special shoutout to our server, Tammy, who truly made the experience exceptional. She was attentive, knowledgeable, and so genuinely kind. Her recommendations were spot-on and she made us feel completely taken care of.

Between the incredible service, delicious food, and unbeatable views, Battello is a place we’ll definitely be returning to. Highly recommend!
