We kept eating and drinking and we would only come up for air and my friends say to me, “wow good choice choosing this restaurant !”
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Blue Anchor is an absolute gem!
From the moment we arrived, the service was outstanding. David, the manager, sets a brilliant example of leadership—he was hands-on the entire evening: taking orders, serving food, bringing drinks, and supporting his team every step of the way. He even made the best cheesecake I’ve ever had—rich, creamy, and unforgettable!
The staff was truly exceptional: – Ruben was warm and professional – Maria was gracious and extremely attentive
Their customer service was AMAZING—some of the best I’ve experienced in my life.
🍽️ Highlights from our meal: – Appetizers: heavenly crab cakes with sauce, and incredibly flavorful grilled octopus – Entrées: my salmon with mashed potatoes was cooked perfectly—crispy skin, moist center – My sister’s seafood platter was delicious and generous – My niece’s shrimp scampi with spaghetti was so good I couldn’t stop sneaking bites!
🎉 Ambiance was upbeat, cozy, and unrushed—we felt completely relaxed and cared for.
This was my first visit to Blue Anchor, and I can’t wait to bring the whole family next time. It’s a rare combination of spectacular food and world-class service. Highly recommended—don’t miss out!
This restaurant feels like it's still finding its footing, as if it recently opened and is trying to get all the moving parts working in sync. Unfortunately, there's room for improvement across the board — from the food and service to the overall atmosphere and management.
We came in for dinner after work, and while the bar was lively, it bordered on chaotic. Several patrons had their barstools pushed out so far that they were just a couple of feet from the dining tables — including ours — which made for an uncomfortably cramped experience.
The layout of the restaurant also left much to be desired. One table was awkwardly positioned right in front of a swinging service door, creating constant foot traffic and a disrupted dining experience. To add to the confusion, there wasn’t a clear entrance or host stand — it took us several minutes just to flag someone down to be seated. Staff seemed to be using different doors for every task, making the flow of service appear disorganized.
As for the food, it was okay. We tried the happy hour deal — three appetizers for \$27 — and the fish tacos stood out as the best. The calamari and crab cake were underwhelming. We ordered the $1.50 oysters, which were also... just okay. Unfortunately, whoever shucked them clearly needs more practice — about half of them were either mangled or full of shell fragments. At one point, I was genuinely worried about chipping a tooth.
We also ordered a burger that arrived without anyone asking how we wanted it cooked or if we wanted to modify any toppings.Overall, the service lacked warmth or engagement; interactions with the staff felt minimal and impersonal.
What stood out most, though, was the sense of unease in how the place was being managed. On multiple occasions, we saw walk-in customers hesitate, clearly unsure about staying, only for the owner to scramble to make space — hauling out foldable tables and throwing together outdoor setups on the fly. It felt more like a patchwork fix than a welcoming experience, and frankly, a little chaotic and uncomfortable to watch.
In short, this spot seems to have potential, but it’s in need of some serious refinement — both in execution and in how it presents itself to guests.
Placed a takeout order for a large group and everything was so delicious. Fish tacos were the group fave. Justin, the manager, and all the staff were extremely helpful. Have been there three times and can’t wait to go back! Feels like a little oasis in the city.
I just love this place. It has a great patio overlooking the park and the waterfront. It is child-friendly with a kids’ menu, special kid cups, crayons and a coloring sheet. It also has the most delicious fish sticks I think I have ever had! The Trout tartare is my favorite as well. Keep it up!
Had the oysters in the happy hour. The oysters have a lot of sand in it and taste weird. My girlfriend and I had stomachache for over two days after dining in the restaurant.
Fun place by the water for beers.
My sister and I have made this our go-to spot!
Lovely place with a beautiful view of the Manhattan River and great drinks. I highly recommend it.
We liked everything, we will definitely come back

Great new restaurant addition on the Newport promenade near the Hoboken PATH, NJTransit, and Ferry terminal. Excellent food, cocktails and wine menu. Awesome vibes and views… my new favorite spot!
We walked in on what was clearly a slow night, so we expected decent service at the very least. Unfortunately, that never happened. It took 15 minutes just to get water, no one asked our preference, just dropped off tap. After that, we waited an additional 15 minutes at our table. Not a single staff member acknowledged us or even came by to take our order. Multiple employees passed us, clearly saw we hadn’t been served (menus still on the table, no drinks), yet no one stopped to check in or ask if we were ready.
After over 30 minutes of being ignored, we decided to leave and still, not a single person noticed or acknowledged us walking out. An absolutely disappointing and careless experience from start to finish. We live in the neighborhood and wanted to try somewhere new. We were upset it turned out this way. We ended up going to Razza, which never disappoints.
Great seafood!
The food was good. We ordered ham and cheese salad, fence toast, shrimp with fries, fish tacos, eggs and salad, calamari. The calamari came really late and they offered it on them. Which was generous and apologetic! Thank you
I’ve ordered from Blue Anchor a few times because I usually enjoy their burgers, but the service has become increasingly disappointing.
Last time, I requested a medium burger, but it came out burnt and clearly overcooked, more like medium-well, which really affected the meal. This time, I ordered again through ClassPass and made sure to mention I wanted the burger cooked medium. The manager or person in charge replied that “all burgers come medium.” I didn’t argue, but based on my past experiences with takeout, where I’ve typically been asked how I’d like the meat cooked, I felt it was reasonable to clarify. His response felt unnecessarily dismissive, which is how I felt throughout the interaction with him during today’s visit.
I also waited over 25 minutes for my order. When I politely asked for a status update, he kept talking over me instead of directly addressing the question. I told him I didn’t appreciate being spoken to like that. He explained he was the only one working and it was busy, which I understand, but that doesn’t excuse unprofessional behavior, especially from someone running the restaurant.
He later offered me a drink or breakfast on the house, possibly realizing he’d come off rude, but I declined. I wasn’t looking for a freebie. I just expected to be treated respectfully and receive my order as requested. Unfortunately, this experience left a bad impression.
