I booked the Box Cafe for my Halloween party turned wedding and I had the most amazing experience with Linda (the venue owner). Not only did she give us a very generous discount, she also offered to decorate for us since we had so much going on that day, for a very reasonable price. She spoke to me several times throughout the planning, worked with me, and made sure my perfect wedding came to life. She was incredible every step of the way and I would book this place a thousand more times for an experience like this! She decorated the place BEAUTIFULLY and the place is absolutely lovely. I cannot say enough about my incredible experience with this venue and I will definitely be back for dinner and any time I have an event. She made everything smooth and seamless for a reasonable price! Book it!!! You will NOT regret!

After our wedding we came this cafe to take a coffee. But it turns out that the cafe was a great place to take wedding photos. I am grateful that they let us take photos in every part of the cafe. Thank you so much 🤍 also the taste of coffee was great

We stopped by here after my brother’s wedding ceremony to have a coffee but the atmosphere and ambiance are amazing at this place, their hospitality is on another level. We have taken lots of pictures together. Coffee is really good as well. 10/10, definitely worth it. 🔥🔥🔥

Amazing food! And a great space! Can’t wait to dine on the new outdoor patio! Really though the food is so tasty and reasonably priced! The baked Brie was my very fave!

Cute spot with limited menu. Got a sandwich which was flavorful. Cozy quiet inside

Held a private event at Box Cafe and everyone absolutely raved about this place. Linda was great in helping us put it all together and supported us the whole way through. This is a great place, easy to access location even from NYC. They're great on the details. Go here.

I don't usually give a rating this low for a local joint that looks like it is trying to make its mark, but we felt like we went to an entirely different place than what was portrayed online when we stopped in for brunch. The food wasn't bad, but was more in line with a nice American diner than a French cafe. Cooked well, but ingredients limit what can be done. Coffee wasn't great. The place has a lovely feel, but needs the food to go with it. We were the only customers there the entire time. Maybe they focus more on dinner, in which case they should stay closed for brunch

I reaaaaally want to love this place since we desperately need more cafes and restaurants in the area!

But after coming 3x (2x for brunch and 1x for a Friday dinner), I feel very sad that this place misses the mark :(

The highlights:
1- Friday night live music was a real treat! Again, we need more of this in the neighborhood!
2- Our server was extremely friendly, welcoming & the best part of this dinner!
3- it's BYOB if that matters to you

Lots of room for improvement:
- it was $60 for 2 mains - their burger & chicken breast, both served with a couple potatoes and broccoli. For $10 more on the burger, you could get a 1* Michelin burger in the city. The prices just don't reflect the cooking nor presentation. It was certainly homemade, but the quality reflected that - & while it's very tough to own a business in this economic climate, it just wasn't worth the $.

- the menu said to inquire on dessert & when we did, it was clear the chef hadn't thought about it that evening. We were offered an impromptu apples tossed with cinnamon and caramel dessert which we declined.

- strangely, the female owner was just sitting down at a table. There were only a few guests, and the server was attending to a coffee order. Just felt a bit odd (often you'd see owners really engaged when it's quiet, or helping the staff out).

It's just not the kind of place that warrants the prices it's charging. It's the kind of place you'd see Gordon Ramsey in, whipping into shape. Gulp.

But the live music is nice!

I genuinely don't understand how this place has 4.8*. Are these other reviews fake? Is it because this is the only coffee shop/restaurant within quite a walking distance?

Either way, with the exception of the lovely waitress, this is comfortably the worst value meal I've had in a very long time... To the degree that I feel kind of annoyed on reflection and a bit taken advantage of. The bizarre thing is it's served with a genuine smile... Which is so confusing as they HAVE to realise how bland and over-priced this food is?

I came in for the evening meal on a Friday and had the burger. I would literally prefer any number of burgers over this. Just go to Marty's. Or white star bar. Or the Franklin. Or literally anywhere.

Sorry, this place has a lot of work to do and someone has to say it :( this area is crying out for a decent restaurant too, and it just feels like these guys aren't even trying :'(
