I hosted a baby shower here a couple of months back. Everything from dealing with the events coordinator to the day of experience was superb. The food, ambiance and service was exceptional. They delivered on everything and went above and beyond. If you are having an event consider this restaurant. You won’t be disappointed.

Food was good - flavorful but small portions. We liked the ricotta gnocchi and the pork was cooked well. We ordered the pavlova and chocolate cake. We were told it’s a chocolate olive oil cake? Some confusion with the dessert. The chocolate cake was dry and tasteless. Worst I’ve ever had. Pavlova was good.

The host was great, but our server wasn’t.
I asked about the alcohol in the dishes because I’m pregnant, I wanted to make sure it’s evaporated with the cooking process. She kinda brushed me off a bit and I felt I was getting lectured. Somehow she seemed ticked off that I asked? For dessert, I wanted espresso but asked if they have decaf. They don’t, that’s fine. The server responded to me with “I didn’t give up coffee when I was pregnant”. I told her I didn’t either. Why are you assuming that? You don’t know me. It was 7 PM and I don’t want to be awake past my bedtime. I ordered the espresso which did not come at the same time as the dessert. We had to ask for it to be brought over.

The women who work there had long nails. I have my Servsafe manager certification. From a food safety standpoint long nails is a no-no.

Exceptional Italian cuisine. The staff are very helpful, knowledgeable, and accommodating. Everything on the menu is amazing. Their signature dish, Angry Chicken, is phenomenal. From the apps to desert and everything in between, you will not be disappointed. Been twice now and highly recommend.

What a great meal and a nice surprise. My wife and I moved to Jersey City 5 weeks ago and have been fairly disappointed with all the food around us. Arriving with low expectations, Corto proved to be the most professional, hospitable restaurant we’ve tried and the food was as on-point as anything we’ve had anywhere this past year, including Manhattan. Highly recommend. Reservations are tough. But we will persevere and visit again soon.
Bonus: Ana the server recommended we try The Alps, a cocktail restaurant nearby before heading home. What a perfect suggestion and a great find. We will duplicate this evening many times in the future now that we’re nearby residents.

we went to Corto for our anniversary dinner and the experience was nothing short of fantastic. The angry chicken was nothing but filled with kindness. The cheesecake is to die for. Best night ever.

One of the best restaurants in Jersey City. Had the best gnocchi of my life here. And the ricotta toast is awesome.

4.5 starts

Pleasantly surprised by this not so hidden gem in Jersey city (the heights).

I walked into Corto for an early lunch & it was well worth the drive.

I snagged a seat at the pasta bar & got a front row view of the chefs prepping and working their magic in the kitchen.

This simply designed small restaurant is very cozy, offers comfortable seating, and also has a very nice outdoor patio set up in the back of the restaurant.

I tried the Ricotta & honey toast that was spectacular. All the ingredients tasted fresh and blended together perfectly.

The ricotta gnocchi was DELICIOUS, every bite was better than the last was not drenched in sauce & the meat complimented it so well.

The citrus olive oil cake with strawberry jam was truly the perfect way to end my meal. A light but dense cake that had freshly made jam & whipped cream was a knock out treat.

The service was welcoming & top notch. Not only did both servers come to check how the meal was going, the chef also checked on me periodically being that I was seated right in front of the kitchen, leaving me to enjoy my meal but when they did (pop in) they were very informative & gave me little bits of information on each dish that I had.

To keep it short, Corto is a neighborhood gem tucked into the heights that everyone all over the city (or state) should know of & visit at least once.

I look forward to visiting in the VERY NEAR future.

Corto is our favorite restaurant! The food and service is consistently superb. The menu changes seasonally so all the ingredients are incredibly fresh. The pasta is always cooked to perfection with this best flavors. Both indoor and outdoor ambience is lovely--you feel like you're in a friend's home or backyard. Visit Corto and enjoy!
