I live nearby and regularly visit Dames Coffee, so wanted to take a minute to recommend them online. The team here is so lovely and the coffee is delicious. They specialize in the more standard items -- coffee, espresso, lattes etc. If looking for a seasonal drink, not the best spot (try The Hive two blocks away), but if looking for a standard and well-made espresso, this is the place to do it. Dames is the quintessential espresso spot in Jersey City. They are right in Jersey Ave surrounded by beautiful brownstones.
Their espresso anchored drinks are always killer. We went with the Pumpkin Spice and Butter Scotch Lattes today. The Pumpkin spice was the perfect balance of espresso and sweet, not overly sugary and smooth.
The butterscotch latte was EPIC, tasted like a cookie and if only I could have this on tap throughout the day.

The café has a nice atmosphere, especially with its cozy backyard. However, my first impression was spoiled by an unfriendly barista and a matcha latte that was lukewarm and full of clumps.
