Efes Mediterranean Grill Jersey City

I’ve been eating at efes since December of 2023. I order here at least twice a month because I considered it to be a healthier option than most places. The salads were so fresh and food was seasoned but not overly salty. My last two orders have not been good. It seems the food is much saltier. The salads are no longer fresh or seasoned the same and the fries which my toddlers used to love seem cheap and overly salty now. I think they changed cooks or management cause it is not the same efes I ordered from for over a year. It’s a shame.

I love the food here. The lamb Adana kebab is delicious. Always good food and good staff.

My boyfriend and I have been eating at Efes at least twice per month for the last three years. We order literally the same thing every time. In fact, we ate here earlier this week, ordered our usual, and it was fantastic. Tonight, however, there was a new or different server. I could tell she did not understand when I ordered the chicken kebab. I therefore said, at least three times, that it is the one that is the white meat. She brought the wrong dish (after bringing us the wrong size salad with feta on it even though we asked for it on the side, as we always do), and then refused to take it back claiming that what she brought me is what I ordered. Leaving aside that I have never uttered the words of the dish she brought me, her refusal to correct her error and then blame me was disgraceful..Even worse, she included an 18% tip on the bill. In the three years we have eaten here, a tip has never been included, even when we have taken large parties here. I suspect she knew we were furious and wanted to make sure she got paid for doing a horrible job. Such disgusting behavior. We will be taking a long break from Efes Management needs to properly train their staff, especially when we have been such loyal regulars.

Lamb Kabobs are very tender & tasty! Staff are kind & respectful. Interior could be better (is dark & black, tables are off balance).

One of the best Turkish restaurants hands down! The food is so delicious and tastes authentic like you’re in Istanbul. Highly recommend going here if you’re in Jersey City!

Nice neighborhood place with decent food. The baklavas were great. We got the falafel with hummus and chicken and garlic. They were just ok. Very polite staff and great service.

The food is good but terrible service took 1.5 for 10 platters I called numerous times!! They gave one small container of white sauce and one hot for 11 platters!!!!

This review is about value. I paid $46 for two gyro doner platters. They were good, but not $46 good. The meat and veg were tasty, but the pita came straight out of the supermarket. For that kind of money, bake fresh pitas. I won’t be going back there, it’s simply not a good value.
