I recently visited Franklin Social for a reunion with a few childhood friends, and the experience exceeded all expectations. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was warm and inviting, and the staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcome.

For my first course, I opted for the cauliflower, which was perfectly battered and seasoned to perfection—every bite was a delight. For my main course, I chose the ribeye steak, cooked exactly to the temperature I requested, and it was flawless. To accompany it, I ordered the whipped mashed potatoes, which were exquisitely smooth and paired beautifully with the steak. Every element of the meal came together seamlessly, creating a truly memorable dining experience.

As a Jersey City native, I’m thrilled to have such an exceptional restaurant as part of our downtown community. Franklin Social is a true gem, and I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone looking for outstanding food and impeccable service. I will absolutely be returning soon!

Cute festive vibes but do not eat here…
Frozen burgers served cold with zero flavor. The side salad was wilted and thrown on the plate. Very limited brunch menu.
Ruined my festive spirit, the only miracle about this place is that it’s still open.

All the food was phenomenal (rock shrimp, shishitos, pork belly, scallops, and chicken… YUM!) Sam is an amazing waiter as well! He was super attentive and made sure allergies were noted on both drinks and food.

This place has gone all the way down hill. When it opened it was a pretty good spot for above average American fare

We just went for brunch and it was, for lack of a better word, regrettable.

First, the menus are printed on cheap computer paper. Not a big deal, but a clear first sign they don’t really care about effort

We asked if they had coffee, again for brunch, and the waiter didn’t know. Weird if you’re serving breakfast. The coffee was fine but extremely standard.

Then the food came. We ordered the full breakfast and the salmon Benedict. Both dishes were extremely dry, the salads on the side clearly just had balsamic vinegar rather than an actual dressing and the sausage tasted like it was cooked in something strange? Had a kind of vinegar taste to it. The toast tasted like they literally sprayed some sort of toast flavoring on it. It was weird overall.

It seems this place is way more focused on getting people drunk rather than serving quality food like they used to

The kitchen was a complete mess. They couldn’t manage to serve the food all at once, and there were only four adults and one child.

We were big fans of Franklin Social before their fire, and we were excited that they just reopened. Unfortunately, we were hugely disappointed. Our friend went in person earlier in the week to make a reservation for tonight. They had no record of the reservation. Weird, but they were still able to seat us. They sat us in the carriage house, which we like, but they had the a/c blasting. We asked four times for them to turn it off. They never did. Took a while to order, and an hour after ordering before we saw any food. Appetizers came out with most of the entrees. One burger was significantly undercooked. My entree was the last to come out — after the rest of our party was more than half way through their meals. I had a salad with grilled chicken — why did that take the longest time to make? Meanwhile, another party of 4 was seated, ordered, ate and left in half the time we were there. Finally, the menu is not nearly as good as it used to be. Where’s the Mac and cheese? It was phenomenal. Where’s the grilled cheese brisket? Fries are not as good either. I would not be as judgmental if they were a new, independent restaurant in a soft opening. But it is owned by a reputable restaurant group and reopened after a fire. It will be a long time before we return, which is a shame, because it was a neighborhood favorite for us.
