Absolutely a wonderful experience. The food was delicious and the atmosphere, a calm vibe. We got to got to chat with the co owner Brad, who is lovely. Such a great dining experience, can wait to return for the items that we didn’t have room to try. (But the plant based empanadas were an instant family favorite!)

Kid-friendliness: Our kids enjoyed the experience and a couple with a baby were wrapping their meal when we got there.

Overcharged for side salads that were supposed to be free with the burger. Did not pick up my calls or respond to my voicemail after the fact.

I’ve been trying more vegan spots lately and this one is top tier. Now, the menu is only a QR code so please come with your phone charged. Otherwise, great vibe, good quality is 10/10. This isn’t a vegan restaurant that tries to make vegan food taste like actual meat dishes so don’t come with that expectation.

The food comes hot and highly recommend the pesto and mushroom burger. If you’re a lover of tea, the loose leaf selection is really good. I even took some home.

The shawarma is actually pretty good, but everything else was meh. And it’s overpriced.

Great food, the lumpia really hits the flavor and texture
 Reminds me of my childhood
the desserts are solid as well
I’ve also had the fish and chips, the loki burger- meatball parm All satisfying - classic interpretations of comfort food
staff is friendly, the owner very welcoming. I’ve been several times, brought dates, brought friends, always a crowd pleaser.

Gaia & Loki – A Revelation in Plant-Based Dining

If there’s one thing Jersey City has never lacked, it’s grit—a city alive with immigrant soul and a dash of unapologetic charm. Gaia & Loki doesn’t just fit here; it thrives. This unassuming plant-based haven on Grove Street doesn’t scream for your attention, but it doesn’t need to. The food does all the talking.

Let’s start with the meatball sub, because once you taste it, you’ll question why meatballs ever needed meat in the first place. A chewy, golden-crusted baguette cradles a perfect harmony of texture and flavor. The “meatballs,” impossibly tender yet robust, dance in the Gaia sauce—a deeply complex marinara with just the right hint of sweetness and heat. It’s the kind of sauce that takes hours to coax out its soul, and when you taste it, you’ll know it was worth every second.

And then there are the mocktails. These aren’t your run-of-the-mill, sugary afterthoughts. They’re vibrant, complex, and crafted with the same care and intention as a fine cocktail. The “Urban Alchemist” blends tart citrus with herbal undertones, while the “Green Revival” hints at a garden party with every sip. Pair one with your meal, and you’ll forget that alcohol was ever part of the equation.

Gaia & Loki isn’t trying to convince you that plant-based dining is better—it’s showing you it can be just as indulgent, soulful, and memorable as anything you’ve ever had. If you come for one thing, make it that meatball sub. But trust me: you’ll stay for everything else.

It’s places like this that remind us food doesn’t need pretense to be extraordinary—it just needs care, respect, and a little bit of love. Gaia & Loki has it in spades. Jersey City, you’ve got a gem here. Don’t squander it.

My mom and I came here for brunch and absolutely loved the ambiance. We had the burgers, sweet potatoes fries and a side salad. We also tried one of the tea options. This was such a relaxing experience after a morning of running errands.

The food was delicious, and the service from Tyler was great! He knew all the best things to try on the menu. This is our new go to brunch spot in the area!

The vegan fish & chips was AMAZING as was the mushroom Alfredo with fried crunchy enoki mushrooms. đŸ„â€đŸŸ« I’ve been to a LOT of vegan restaurants, as our family is full of vegans. This place was very yummy and the atmosphere was gorgeous!

My friend and I were made to feel very welcome. The whole cart is vegan which pleases! We loved the fish burger and it was the best fried onions of my life, however we didn't really appreciate the waffle which was very consistent and for me it lacked taste and flexibility (afterwards I'm used to waffles Belgian, little European that I am, so there you go)

The Pasta had hair in it, and to our surprise, when we brought it to the manager’s attention, he suggested it might have been ours simply because we are a group of women.
This was the first time I’ve ever had to argue with a restaurant manager that the hair in the food didn’t belong to us. It was incredibly frustrating, and this kind of treatment is unacceptable. It reflects very poorly on the restaurant’s customer service, and we will not be returning.
