My go to sushi spot in JC. Good quality for a good price.

What a crappy place literally !!! Ordered sushi, as I washed the cook take my ticket order he looked at it and put it down. He then went into the bathroom and came right out as the toilet was flushing. It was obvious he did not wash his hands. He proceeds to put on old gloves to make my roll. Furious at this point and 9 months pregnant ready to eat I waited for my roll. Needless to say it was disgusting so I ordered a different kind of roll. The cook saw that I ordered more sushi he was frustrated to have to go back and make it because he had just sat down with his own food to eat. He ignored the ticket for 10 min and sat down to eat where all the customers eat. 0/10 wouldn't recommend. No wonder the place was completely empty. Sushi tastes like ShopRite ready made sushi. Not worth the trip honestly.

Excellent food quality.. I use it more for takeout than in-house dining.

I honestly really liked this spot! I was nervous when I saw all the poor reviews and yes this is not the best 5 star gourmet sushi but the sushi is fresh it's delicious. I found both rolls incredibly yummy and filling. I am definitely going to go back. The place it's is cute and could be fun for a date night or dinner with friends. I personally didn't eat here I just picked up my order but I enjoyed the ambience there. The woman at the counter was very nice and helpful. One thing I'll say is it's expensive if you don't get the lunch special ! I think I'd only come back at lunch time for the special!

I absolutely love their bento! They have been an affordable life saver. I always order delivery from them and never had a messed up order. Everything is carefully packaged with no leaks no BS. The chicken katsu bento is out of this world, my all time favorite. It comes with perfectly breaded chicken strips with no yucky cartilage, tendons. It is cut to perfection, accompanied if its sauce...it is a tart BBQ sauce. Then you have your California rolls, 6 pieces, with the Wasabi and soy sauce. You also get two jumbo shrimp tempura, veggies tempura, and white rice. Tempura sauce is included. It is just so well prepared and presented, not to mention the peace of mind knowing that you will get all that you ordered. It is a full complete meal and it has helped lose weight during intermittent fasting. It is guaranteed it will keep you full for the entire day. The sushi is very good too, although I ordered a simple tuna roll. Very well priced, bite sized. No food poisoning ever.

I basically received chicken katsu chips they were so thin. Tasted ok, but it wasn't worth it and the container had way too much lettuce (12months ago in my drafts). Maybe something changed by now but they're almost always closed and it doesn't look great.

The food was awful. The beef was tough, rubbery and flavorless. The gyoza super greasy, not fresh and again lacking flavor. I gave the entire meal to my dog. How does this place remain open?! Gross. All around.

Had good hope for this place, but it was pretty bad. The sweet potato roll lacked flavor and tasted quite plain (most sweet potato rolls anywhere else have avocado, this place didnt). The spicy tuna topping on all the rolls was not very good and the warmth from the tempura would cook the fish. In particular, the Crispy and spicy tuna roll special was pretty bad because it's just a bunch of rice with the tuna topping that would cook in minutes from the heat. I don't even think the soy sauce they gave was soy sauce, but instead was vinegar that was sickeningly strong. The spicy eel roll special and the grove roll were okay, but I do not recommend buying sushi from here. Go to Honshu instead.

I’ve been ordering from here for a bit over a decade now. I live very close, & have ordered nearly everything on their menu, a lot of items more than once. Their sushi has been fresh & tasty. I’d say on two occasions, I had some sushi that wasn’t so great, but compared to how much sushi I’ve ordered from this place over the years, disliking any of my orders was a rare occurrence. I’m not a fan of their bubble teas, as they were made with powders. They don’t have a vast selection & hasn’t changed much if at all since I started ordering from there when I was a teenager. I believe they have always been affordable & a good choice for your dollar. I love spicy tuna & unagi (delicious!).I’ve eaten in a few times. The service was nice & the environment is calm. If you’re expecting a fast-paced experience, this place isn’t for you. The server also handles calls, greets people & hands off orders. Overall, the restaurant isn’t deeply staffed, & the woman greeting people & the chef have been there for a very long time. She has always been respectful. Her demeanor can be characterized as serious & she often doesn’t say more than what’s necessary. Some days she’s smiled at me; other times she hasn’t. She hands my order in my hand, hands my change in my hands, always charges me properly for my order. I have no complaints against her or anyone else at this restaurant, as I’ve seen in other reviews. She does her job & I’ve always been comforted to see she’s still there at the front of the restaurant after all these years. I remember having sushi as a treat with my friends after school. I’ve shared food from here with my family. Born & raised in JC, JC Sakura was & still is apart of my experience as a resident. The fish I’ve had is fresh, the rice has always been properly cooked & soft but never mushy. Though it’s walking distance, there were times I needed orders delivered. I’m aware that their delivery person rides a bike, so I’m patient & understanding of the staffing here. I recall the last delivery person from a few years ago bashfully complimented my name & bowed a few times while smiling & returning to their bike. Sometimes deliveries took almost hour, most of the time, less than half an hour.I’ve always found myself pleased with service & food from here.Understand, especially with restaurants run by owners & small shop restaurants, there can be a lot to handle when closing down a restaurant. Despite having an empty room or being an hour away from closing, they have their reasons not to accommodate indoor dining. There’s another restaurant nearby I’ve been visiting since I was a child, & the family has expressed frustration with people’s entitlement to indoor dining or serving close to closing. Considering it’s run by the same people almost daily, they cannot afford any of the sicknesses going around. They also cannot afford paying constant overtime pay; it’s a reasonable boundary. On top of that, it’s unknown what stocks, shipments & other things are going on. And in the end, workers have lives beyond work. Whatever the case may be, they’re in their right to refuse indoor dining, & especially an hour before closing.

You'll be charged extra 3.5% for using debit cards or credit cards. And their altitude is so freaking bad. I did check the comments in Google before coming here. But apparently I underestimated how bad this place was and how real the comments were.

We were told we couldn’t sit inside (despite the place being nearly empty) and the staff was very rude about it. We were regular customers but not anymore. There is an amazing Japanese restaurant just behind Newport Mall. It’s much more worth your time.
