If you are looking for authentic Nigerian Yoruba cuisine, you MUST visit King’s Pride Food in Jersey City.
I am extremely picky when it comes to my food, and as a Yoruba woman, authenticity means everything to me. When I tell you King’s Pride serves some of the most authentic Yoruba food I have ever had I truly mean it. The people who prepare the food pour so much love and care into every dish. You can literally taste the intention and passion. It is absolute perfection.
The owner is such a beautiful, kind spirit warm, welcoming, and genuinely caring. She provides exceptional customer service, and you can feel that loving energy in the food she prepares. That is exactly the kind of person you want cooking your meals.
The food is top tier. I could honestly eat here every single day and because I’m so busy and barely cook, I basically do! Everything is always fresh, flavorful, and exquisitely prepared.
The restaurant itself is clean, beautiful, and has an amazing atmosphere with the best Afrobeats playing. The environment is welcoming, the people are incredibly kind, and the overall experience is outstanding.
Do yourself a favor and visit King’s Pride. You will fall in love with the food, and you won’t want to go anywhere else. ~Olu~

I recently tried the Jollof Spaghetti at Kings Pride Food and it did not disappoint. The portion size was incredibly generous, the container was packed! The spaghetti had that perfect, authentic Jollof flavor (spicy and savory), and it wasn't dry at all.
It came with a great side of sautéed cabbage/veggies which added a nice crunch, plus an egg and meat which made it a complete, filling meal. It definitely looks good and tastes even better. If you’re looking for hearty, no-nonsense comfort food, this is the spot. Highly recommend!

6/10 Puff Puff
5/10 Jollof Rice: Fish + Plaintains

The puff puff was decent but very oily. The puff puff was basically fried dough that was basically just bread.

Jollof Rice w/ fish tasted like mexican rice and was pretty average and doesnt have much flavor.

The staff was nice!

The food is heavenly! Authentic Nigerian food in a clean space. It’s a family and kingdom business so I feel like money is going to a great place. The owner’s story is an inspiration and she’s kind and pleasant if you get to meet her. She’s passionate about what she does. If it’s your first time she’ll walk you through the entire menu so you can make a good choice.

I had jollof and beef, with dodo. I also had some egusi & pounded yam.
