This place has one of the coolest atmospheres, and I really enjoyed the overall vibe. However, for a restaurant that’s been around for so many years, I’m surprised they don’t offer chicken as an option. While they have a variety of menu choices, I think chicken is a staple that should always be available. Adding it to the menu would make the dining experience even better.

Always a great time when we go. Food is consistently delicious, drinks are strong, and service is prompt. Also can’t beat the price.

Nice chill busy joint. Small but cool for the young crowd. Food is good but portions small. Drinks are on point. Nice crowd. Good place to eat before going out to downtown Jersey city. Get there around 5ish because it gets packed quickly Thursday thru sunday.

The food was decent, but the flavor was fairly basic and nothing particularly memorable. Service was good, though.

The biggest issue was the noise level in the restaurant. It was extremely loud for no reason, with music playing at an overwhelming volume. Even sitting directly across from my partner, it was difficult to have a conversation. People around us were essentially shouting just to be heard, which made the whole experience pretty uncomfortable.

Overall, it was hard to enjoy the meal, and we found ourselves wanting to finish quickly and leave.

Happy to give this place another chance, but nothing is really enticing me to come back at the moment.

My absolute favorite place in the world for tacos and margaritas, the price, the atmosphere, seriously it might be small and the wait can be long but I love it so much

This place is a perfect example of needing to separate the food from the service and ambiance. The food is great. I’ve honestly never had a bad meal there, and in Jersey City it’s easily one of the best spots.
That said, there is almost always a line, and you should expect to wait. The restaurant clearly knows people will keep coming regardless. The servers are not necessarily rude, but the service often feels passive, as if the demand is so high that attentiveness is not really a priority. Service can take a long time, and it is often hard to get someone’s attention.

The food is just as good at both of the locations. Thos one has a very cute but dark dining room and bar, plus a covered outdoor patio that has a very Southern California/Baja vibe, i’m a smattering of seats and tables around the outside of the building, which is on a corner.

But really, come here for the food – and the value! It’s one of the least expensive restaurants for this quality I have ever been to. Free chips and salsa when you eat there. An excellent ones too, and there’s a gazillion types of tacos, which if you’re eating in are probably the move. Of course there’s also enchiladas and burritos and an amazing posole. If it’s on the menu when you’re there, get it, ridiculously filling and amazingly tasty and spicy.

There’s spears and cocktails, of course margaritas. I’ve never had the margaritas, but it did look like people were enjoying the hell out of them.

If you want to order to go, check out the other location, Taqueria Downtown Catering. It’s basically a fast-casual version of this, and that’s where the deliveries come from. If you go there, get the bowls.

The food is outstanding. I tried four different types of tacos and each one was delicious. The standouts were the pastor and the pescado. The house salsa and guacamole were flavorful and perfect portion for an appetizer for two people. The service was quick and efficient. Deducted a star only because it was very loud inside and was hard to have a conversation - had to ask to move away from the speakers and still could barely hear my companion. If you don’t mind the noise, you will love this place.

Hands down some of the juiciest, most savory, mouth water tacos I’ve ever had in the area. Drinks are delicious and pack a punch. The place has somewhat of a dive bar aesthetic with 2 bathrooms and a sink out by the little hallway to wash your hands after obliterating your food.

A bit loud inside but it was busy. Sit outside for a more relaxed time. The food was excellent and our server was great.
