Light Horse Tavern has a very respectable vintage, cozy, and inviting atmosphere. We enjoyed the Steak Cobb Salad and the LHBurger, both were delicious! The staff was professional and knowledgeable.
Loved the ambience- felt like an old time neighborhood bar restaurant. The food was delicious- our burratta peach prosciutto salad to our lemon risotto and hangar steak and lobster roll! Service was excellent too.
The service has not been really efficient, it has been slow without a lot of smile. The apetizer with the lobster wonton didn't taste at all. We asked if the mimoza does contain fresh orange juice, the answer was Yes it is but it was not. The lobster rolls is not the Best ones we had.
Being a Jersey City native you know this is one of my favorite places for brunch. The menu runs the gamut from classic brunch items like eggs, Benedict to creative items like the deviled eggs with trout- across the board you will not be . Special shout out to the atmosphere of this special location. It's two floors with the second floor being a balcony overlooking the first floor space. It's airy and yet Homie and inviting.
Very cool old building. They had a jazz duo playing when we were there. Drinks were balanced and tasty. Our appetizer fried oysters were lightly coated, not heavy at all. For entree I had the crab cakes w a nice salad. Some of the best crab cakes I've had. Service was very nice, attentive but not excessive. Highly recommend.
vibes are alright but food (especially the steak + potato gratin) was one of the worst I've had
Experience was great! I had the cod burger that was amazing! Mimosas were on point! Would definitely go back to try the lobster Benedict and/lobster roll.
Great bar and dining room. Tables well spaced. Food was quite good. Bar and food service was very slow.
I brought a friend who is legally blind to have dinner one evening. We both enjoyed our meals. My friend had the French onion soup and salad, and I had their meatloaf with mashed potatoes. Very tasty. My friend also had their Espresso Martini which I tasted, and it was excellent. Our server was friendly and attentive. My only quibble was the front service. As I mentioned, my friend is blind. When leaving our table, it would have been much appreciated if the hostess or the manager (or owner), who were both near the entrance, opened and held the door for us. Pretty clueless or just oblivious, to be very frank. We couldn't have been more transparent that assistance would have been helpful as I held my friend's arm with mine while walking slowly towards the door and navigating the steps towards the street.
It was my first visit to The Lighthorse but not my last! The ambiance was exquisite from point of entry! Customer service is important to me and the Lighthorse didn't disappoint. I met a business partner for dinner and we had a cozy corner to talk without talking over each other. The food & cocktails were DELICIOUS! The server was polite & attentive. Parking wasn't so bad & the area reminds me of the Village in Manhattan.

Excellent food, service and overall environment. The decor and pictures were all curated by the owner. Great menu.
The nicest place. Most like Europe.

It was 4+ stars and my go-to local restaurant until yesterday. We had order Risotto and hanger steak. The risotto was too salty to eat. Hanger steak was pungent, and associate vegetables were also too salty. Both foods taste really bad, seriously. The only good thing was bread.
I know this place was good. But somehow, food quality changes so badly.

Light Horse is a very solid Jersey City located in Paulus Hook. Great design. Super clean and smart. The Costa Rican bartender that served us was super knowledgeable and very sweet. We had raw bar specials and they were all delicious. We had a couple of drinks and they were all perfectly built. We will definitely be returning.
