This is the WORST ramen I ever had!! Never saw anywhere else put carrots in miso ramen, baboon shoots taste very weird, worst thing is, this is not the right type of ramen for miso ramen. Plz do NOT go, waste of your money and your time

Stepping into Menya Sandaime felt like walking straight into a Japanese movie. The bamboo shade roofs and cozy setup gave it an authentic, almost transportive feel. Definitely a win for the ambience!

I ordered the Black Ramen, and it did not disappoint—rich, deep umami flavor that hit just right. The Veggie Shoyu Ramen, on the other hand, was just okay, nothing too special. One downside is that they don’t offer any vegan options, which feels like a miss in today’s food scene.

Service was quick, which is always a plus. Overall, a great spot if you're craving a solid bowl of ramen in a setting that makes you forget you're not actually in Japan. Would definitely come back!

Seriously, that's bad. I'm sorry, but this is all there is to it. It's the only ramen shop in my neighborhood, so I've been there a few times and it's the same every time. I thought to myself, ``It really wasn't that bad,'' about 5 times, but by the time I left the store, I felt nothing but regret. And it's damn expensive. I can't say that the fried chicken and gyoza are delicious, and I definitely don't recommend them. I feel sorry for you, but I don't want you to feel the same way. The service and atmosphere are not bad, but the taste is just not good. It's not like it tastes so bad that I'll throw up. But I don't think people come here to eat because of the deliciousness. If you're a foreigner, you might have a different opinion, but if you're Japanese, I don't recommend it at all. I wonder if we can have some delicious Japanese food in Newport soon. Well, by then you won't be here anymore. No, I don't know, maybe he'll come back. Well, there aren't any Japanese people, so there's no demand for it.

I ordered the veggie shoyu ramen. They gave one leaf of spinach shown in the picture below. Very small portion - not even half the bowl is full- Not worth the money at all. it actually expanded their menu and has a lot of potential but doing things like once leaf of spinach is not a good strategy

The food was horrible. They served us RAW pork gyoza. I ate one bite and noticed the pork filling in gyoza wasn't well cooked.
Never going back again.
Also, we're Japanese, but we felt the food they provide was not authentic Japanese food at all.

Plenty of seating inside the restaurant with an open feel.

The online menu is at least about $3-$4 less from the actual price. Perhaps they just didn't update their online menu, but I was caught a little off guard when dropping by for my togo shoyu ramen and paid ~$15 as opposed to ~$12 online price.

The noodle itself was not bad, but the soup base was definitely a more saltier/deeper soy sauce based than I usually prefer, but it was not bad. The pork was thin and tender. I would have liked to have more items in the soup. While it was not bad overall, I have had better ramen.

I was torn between giving 3 or 4 stars since I really wanted to give 3.5. While some may say the 3 ratinf is bad, that's just my opinion on one item and would definitely come back and try their other ramen. And next time I won't be surprised about the extra $3-$4 price hike from their online menu.

I don’t understand why this place has so much seating. The interior is well furnished, but they do not seem to get a lot of foot traffic. In any case, I am a fan of Menya Sendaime for a quick, decent bowl of ramen in a hurry. It won’t blow your mind but it is not bad by any means and very consistent. You order at the counter and they prepare the ramen within 5 minutes. Basically healthier (?) fast food. To that point, I also like that they add a substantial portion of vegetables to every bowl. They add either a bunch of spinach leaves or cabbage to the bottom of the bowl, which don’t really do much for the flavors but make me feel a lot better about the meal. Recently started trying their rice bowls as well - the beef bowl is similar to Yoshinoya’s.

Tonkatsu ramen was bland. Chicken was pink. Not even that cheap! 40$ for two people. Very disappointing meal. This place has so much potential, but there’s a reason it is empty. Would not go here again

I ordered Tonkotsu ramen and Karaage. Tonkotsu ramen tastes different than any other ramen I had else where, and personally I don’t like it. The Pork is 95% fat. I understand it happens sometimes, but this is my first time eating here and I am disappointed. Karaage is definitely a failure, since it tastes rigid and a little sweet. In conclusion, good atmosphere, no service and disappointing food.

The ramen here is not good. Oily and not much flavor. It's not really a location problem- the location in Fort Lee is just as bad. Recommend skipping it. Gyoza is okay.

This is my second time at Menya (Jersey City). Both times I had the Chicken Teriyaki Don. It is really good, I did notice the second time my dish had a lot more onions in it (didn’t even notice the onions the first time). Consistency can be an issue but nonetheless the food was delicious. The service is a little so so, as you order and have to go pick up your food once your number is called. The restaurant is very spacious and well kept. Definitely a must try if you’re in the area.
