I've tried many Dominican places in the area and have always been disappointed. Mister Gusto is the only one I've found that's actually worth while. My only complaint is I wish they had stewed pork, not just shoulder. But everything I did get was delicious. They're definitely worth a visit.

Fast and delicious Dominican ?? meals, the beef stew was particularly tender and flavorful. Excellent place for a fast wholesome meal on the way to or from Journal Square and the woman who runs the place is very kind and helpful.

*** Don't be fooled by the 4 Dollar signs on this yelp page; that's wrong! This place is good for cheap eats and great for take out!*** Mr. Gusto's has been around for years and I'm so happy they still exist! 100% had to stop by during my visit back home to Jersey City. Best Dominican food in the area AND it's inexpensive! The flavors keep people coming back for years. I used to come here when I was in high school and when I worked in the JSQ area. I was addicted and technically still am. This was the first place I went to as soon as I got back from EWR. Their hours have changed as they are now closed on Sundays. They are open Monday to Saturday from 8am to 8pm last I was there. Do yourself a favor and try this place out. I posted a photo of the plate prices to go. This is definitely more of a takeout spot than a dine in restaurant. Parking can be tricky in the area but I usually go down Newkirk and park in the 2nd parking lot on the left (it's gated). As long as you're quick for take out your car is good! Enjoy!
