A hidden gem in Jersey City. Very nice decor and authentic Korean food. Great deals for their lunch sets!

This is my second time here. First time I had mixed impressions about the food specifically so I thought I’d give it another try. The service is amazing and ambiance is beautiful. Some of the food was hit or miss. I got the fried dumplings which I loved, and the scallion pancake was great. The fried chicken tho felt somewhat like a worse version of general tsao chicken you’d get in Chinatown. Very dough heavy and the flavor was not great. Me and my husband each tried a piece and really disliked it. I never send back things to the kitchen unless it’s really awful. What kind of triggered me is the chef said that because we tried it they can’t comp it. Well how else would I know it’s terrible? Anyways they never offered to substitute it with something else and they never brought back the leftovers (an almost full meal) .

Ondo was exceptional! The food was absolutely delicious and the service was excellent. While the layout and vibe of the restaurant are more casual than upscale, the quality of the food more than makes up for it.

Chef Brian Kim, the owner of Ondo, also created the Michelin-starred Oiji Mi in NYC—so it’s no surprise that this spot is just as impressive. Ondo offers a tasting menu that’s a more affordable yet equally delicious alternative to Oiji Mi. It’s a fantastic way to experience elevated Korean cuisine without the Michelin price tag.

Chef Brian also owns other restaurants, including Domo Domo, and Ondo is a wonderful addition to his portfolio. The restaurant is co-owned with his wife, who leads the pastry program, adding a sweet finishing touch to an already amazing meal. Definitely worth a visit!

Ondo takes a contemporary approach to Korean cuisine, blending traditional flavors with modern techniques and presentation that will appeal to both Korean food enthusiasts and newcomers to the cuisine. Rather than serving authentic, home-style Korean dishes, they've crafted a menu that reinterprets classic flavor profiles through a refined, restaurant-quality lens.

The restaurant's atmosphere is one of its strongest assets – thoughtfully designed with warm lighting, comfortable seating, and a noise level that actually allows for conversation. This makes it an excellent choice for intimate date nights or family gatherings where you want to enjoy your meal without shouting across the table. The service strikes a nice balance between attentive and unobtrusive, allowing diners to relax and focus on their company.

While the Korean-inspired dishes successfully capture familiar flavors and incorporate traditional ingredients like gochujang and kimchi, the execution feels more like Korean fusion than authentic Korean cooking. The plating is Instagram-worthy and the flavors are well-balanced, but those seeking the bold, rustic character of traditional Korean cuisine might find the experience a bit sanitized.

Ondo serves its purpose well as a neighborhood restaurant that offers accessible Korean flavors in an upscale-casual setting. The consistent quality and pleasant atmosphere make it a reliable choice for local residents, though the premium pricing and modern interpretations mean it's more of a convenient option than a culinary destination worth traveling for.

Pricey but good food. Not a place to fill up, but a good representation of well-prepared Korean food with good ingredients. The tofu soup was exceptionally flavorful!

We picked ONDO for a dinner with our friends. We called in to confirm availability and the restaurant was very accommodating to fit our party of 7 within a short notice of half an hour. The restaurant has modern interior with wooden styles. Chill and comfortable vibes. There’s a small bar as well.

We started the dinner with seafood pancake and fried dumplings. Both of them were good starter dishes. The chicken gongjeong also a good small dish. Then we got the branzino risotto, probably the best dish. Delicious risotto with well cooked branzino. Next was the charred bulgogi. This one was disappointing, as I did not find the taste nor the feel of a beef dish.

The service was decent overall, very friendly staff. The food mostly came out within decent time. Despite being highly priced, the dishes were so small we had to order multiples of them.

Great restaurant that serves beautifully plated food that also looks as good as it tastes. The Galbi-jjim with the chestnut puree was delightful. The Korean fried chicken and duck salad were also delicious

Upscale Korean food in JC. I did not expect the portion is personal/small.
We had to add 3 more orders because some of us were definitely still hungry.

Usually seafood pancake is a large size to share. Nonetheless, the flavor is not bad. It’s better with the sauce for sure. Fried chicken is juicy and tender with crispy skin. I ask the sauce to be on the side because it’s spicy.

Bronzino is filet and with risotto. This is a more American/European dish. They cook it beautifully tho. Risotto is rich.

The service is wonderful. We have a big group. All the drinks and food come out correct. They are very attentive and nice.

Inside is very chic and relaxing. Bar area and regular dining tables/booths. To me it’s more like a chat-over-cocktail with friends’ vibe instead of actual dinner.

Food is tasty, menu is very limited (5 main course options only), and portions are super small (almost looked like a kid’s menu).
Had the bulgogi with mushroom rice, my wife had the branzino, both were good

One of the BEST modern Korean restaurants in NYC metro area.
The tasting menu was super delicious! Every dish was so tasty and beautifully presented.
The only thing could be better is the service. Our server was hard to find sometimes.
