Sadly I have stopped going here, a few years ago Prato was one of my go to places to visit however the price of the sandwiches increased three times over the past few years while service has decreased. The last two times I went there was one person working behind the counter and took more than 30 minutes to get food. For the price and cost I prefer to go to Cangianos or even Dark Pines, you get more sandwich, same quality and better service.

We came in for the first time on a Sunday afternoon; food and drinks are very good and I would go back. As everyone else had pointed out though, only one person working which does not make for good service (even if the one person is excellent). That means one person is taking orders, then pausing to go prep food and drinks, so it takes a very long time to take orders and the line just accumulates. The place is big enough and there’s enough foot traffic to have another person working. There are much smaller places with at least two people. Also cleaning up tables and chairs is a bit non-existent from what we saw, since one person barely has time do the main tasks.

Small but great – the bakery offers a wide selection of Italian baked goods. The staff is very friendly. Anyone traveling to New Jersey should definitely stop by. Keep up the good work – I'll be recommending you in Italy, Germany, and Belgium. Ciao!
Copped the Siena sandwich - the other sandwiches on display looked like they would’ve probably tasted better, but this one was pretty decent. Bread’s good and they make the food fresh - 4/5

They only have one guy working in the morning which means you wait years for your coffee. Thus this place is not an easy pop
In spot. It takes forever to get in and out and they miss the mark not having chicken breast as part of their sandwich offering. Their bread is great which makes it so annoying because if they just had one or two more people working here with a few more menu items this place could easily be two letter grades better.

I was a huge fan of Prato & this location until today. It’s sad to see when an establishment loses its touch. There was only 1 employee working during a morning rush hour taking 1 order at a time & executing it. It baffled me to see only person working doing all of the work. I waited 15 min for a black coffee. Lastly which was the worst part is the Brontë sandwich that I love to get was so wet & soggy. Overall such a bad experience & I’m hopeful this review will create urgency to get right again because this was a neighborhood gem.

We met the owner on the path. He seemed like a kind and nice person. We will certainly take up the invitation to try one of his bakeries and we will be able to tell you... At the moment…. Thank you!

The people were nice and the sandwiches were delicious, especially the Mamma Mia. I’ve done both dine in and takeout, and the sandwiches were excellent both times!

I went to work from on a Friday afternoon and ordered the iced Nutella Latte, which one might say is something they advertise as their signature drink. It entailed covering the coffee cup in Nutella and throwing some milk and espresso on ice. The taste was not great to say the least and it’s probably the worst Nutella latte I’ve ever had

Owner should fire young male with the 1996 tattoo. He acted like it was a burden to take my order. When he misunderstood me, and I tried to clarify he started glaring at me as if he wanted to fight me. On previous visits I’ve also been met with poor customer service from their staff. It’s a shame because i enjoy their food but will be encouraging my neighbors and friends to not go there any more thanks to Mr 1996 tattoo

Stopped here on a whim to do some work. Great choice by myself if I say so myself. Coffee was delish and the bakery was a 10/10.

$17 for a sandwich with thick black hair baked into the bread and as part of an incorrectly filled order. I've been a Prato regular for 7 years but I'm done. It is absolutely impossible to justify the costs of these sandwiches, especially given the drop in quality.

Macchiato is spot on form. I will be back to try the sandwiches.
