I've lived in the neighborhood for several years, and never eaten here, so one day, I decided to order take-out on a blustery cold day. Got the house special pho and pork banh mi. To me, the broth defines any pho dish. It needs to be balanced with all the different spices that go into it. Unfortunately, I found the broth too anise-y from the very first sip. All the other ingredients (noodles, rare meat, etc.) were fine. The banh mi was okay, nothing special. I, personally, prefer more pate, which I found lacking, but overall, the sandwich was meh. What really bothered me about the place was when I went to pick up my order, I was told it was $24+. I paid $40 in cash. When the cashier handed me my change, he gave me an inquiring look, which I thought was weird. Because I was in a rush to get home, I quickly looked at the change he gave me, which was $15, and put it in my bag. While walking home, I did the mental math and realized I should have also gotten back some change in coins, but I only received a five and ten dollar bill. Apparently, the cashier took the change as a tip for himself without me knowing at the time. Now, after the fact, I don't mind as much since it was small change, but it's a matter of principle. You are literally stealing from your customers! Saigon Bistro, you need to re-train your employees or hire more honest ones! Unfortunately, this will be my only time as a customer.

See other reviews re: cockroaches. Received raw pork and chicken dumplings, and uncooked chicken with grill marks for our soup. It made us so sick last night. Used to be a solid choice, now I'll never order again, especially after seeing the cockroach photos from not one but at least two other reviewers 🤢

I used to have one go to pho spot but ever since I tried the lemongrass pho with brisket from this place, I've been addicted!!! I order it at least 2 to three times a month to go and it always hits the spot. Delicious and so fulfilling.

We used to love this place but had an awful Experience on Feb 1st, 2025. Received the vegetarian Pho with a Cockroach in it 🤮Totally grossed out after that experience and had to leave, ruining our Saturday night dinner plans. Feel extremely apprehensive of coming back to this place.

This is now my second time ordering food from the Central Avenue location of this restaurant and having a cockroach in my food. Specifically, the garlic sautee. The first time I let it go, as I thought it was an accident, but now being the second time, it appears the restaurant has an infestation issue. Would not recommend ordering and please check your food before eating.

Ordered for the first time and I will be ordering again! I had the vermicelli with tofu and the spring rolls and they were incredible. Perfectly cooked and seasoned. I don’t leave reviews often but this restaurant deserves one.
