The food was blah. The portions not so great seeing that the price was high. Was hungry after eating. The tea was nice. Hot tip, make sure you ask the server for an updated closed out check. They brought me one check that I signed and left a great tip. A few days later, noticed a different charge from them. They charged me $5 more. Beware and check your bank account statements!!

I once liked the coffee there and have been dining there couple of times, but not a regular. But most recently I received a service that was below my expectations to this small business.

After I ordered a coffee and tipped properly, because of the rain I would like to stay indoor for a while, given there were a lot of vacant tables. I was trying to clean the table myself because the owner and the waitress were busy with other customers. Then I was spoken to by the owner indicating that for only a coffee I was not supposed to have a table and they are guided seating only. No sign on the counter and no one at the front door reminding customers. You cannot take for granted that at a brunch shop everyone shall be automatically aware that it’s a guided seating Michelin restaurant!

After an while, by checking every other tables, the owned said to me “ oh, and you are still waiting…” I didn’t say anything back and didn’t want to ruin my morning but it should not come from a friendly neighborhood diner. Left without ordering a brunch which I could have enjoyed.

This is a really nice place and our food was delicious. Our waitress rushed us out of our table when we'd been seated for about twenty eight minutes - she collected my plate the absolute *second* I finished eating (I literally put my form down a second before she grabbed it,) brought the check before we asked for it, and brought my friend a travel mug for her mostly full coffee to rush us out. She hovered while we were finishing our food and paced around, watching us. Being rushed out almost immediately after we ate ruined the experience. I understand restaurants are busy and can't let customers linger when we're not ordering, but I might have ordered a second coffee if the waitress hadn't been hovering and aggressively trying to get us to leave. The food was good, price was fair, atmosphere was lovely, but I won't be going back.

A stylish brunch spot in New Jersey.
Although it's not well known, New Jersey is just a short subway ride from New York. There are many hot spots that are still unknown, so if you're tired of New York, exploring New Jersey might be fun! This is one house that makes me think.

Food 8/10
A very filling and heartwarming sausage gravy over biscuits brunch. Creamy, rich, and the sausage bits added a nice touch of texture. The french toast also came with a beautiful berry compote. Wish I could bring it home. Both portions were very reasonable too.

Atmosphere 8/10
We put our names down and waited around 15 minutes to get seated. The interior is very cozy, it seems as if they repurposed an old apartment to become a brunch / cafe spot on the first floor of the building. Rustic New England vibes.

Service 10/10
Super friendly staff, I felt very at ease and enjoyed the hospitality and warmth.

Food was okay , but waitresses poured a lot of water on me by accident, my pants were all wet, they even didn’t apologize. Very disappointed with the service and will never come back.

I've been here once before and remember have a pretty bad bland meal. A friend was visiting and thought it would be nice to give this place another shot.

The food was bland and bad again. We ordered the pesto chicken salad and it was extremely dry and the pimento bread sandwich looked and tasted unappetizing. Fortunately the chef came out and apologized and we settled on the avocado toast which was also very mid.

Cold brew was good. Unfortunately I won't be back.

Good food and service. Recommend the garden goddess sandwich, plain French toast and honey badger latte. The biggest bummer is they don't take reservations and wait is usually ~35 minutes.

My top favorite cafe in downtown JC. Amazing food, great coffee, great vibes, what’s not to love about Sam A.M. The specials keep changing and they have a great variety of stuff. The French toast is mind blowing! My wife loves the Honey Badger latte.
