The food is good. It will be better if there's more vegetarian options

Nice place, especially second floor, but server who is taking care of 2nd floor needs an extra training, that dude has no idea about proper customer service.

Odd, I walked in after work( blue collar) I asked for a burger to go and every thing was fine with the waiter and bartender but the manager said they (to the surprise of her own staff ) don’t do to go. The waiter was a bit taken aback, but as I walked away, I could hear reasoning. sad. even the waiter tried to protest her sudden change in policy…. And rude that she said it loud enough to make me aware of her views.

Do not host big parties here. They are not situated to handle a large crowd. We asked for the check and had to wait an hour for it. Food was delicious though. Servers could have been more attentive.

We unfortunately did not eat here, but judging from the locals that piled into this restaurant and were greeted by the staff with warm and extended conversations, we'd say this restaurant is a special place.

Even if we missed seeing the family atmosphere, the simple menu alone tells you this is a serious food place. They're not trying to sell you everything but the kitchen sink, just the good stuff, consistently and deliciously prepared (from what was saw:)

Whomever designed the place, the lighting, the warmth, really knows how to seduce and create an environment out of a movie. You just wanna go in there.

The staff is beyond friendly and not at all surprised we instantly fell in love with the place, "Hey! It's Skinner's, an institution in these parts."

Awesome but for some reason I was out with my family on a Wednesday night and the service was pretty slow. It was not busy. But the food was pretty good!

Review of rooftop drinks only. Our late summer drinks on the rooftop was a pleasant surprise. With only a few tables on the roof, the doorman had to radio up for availability. Up 2 flights of stairs and around the bend, Tre rooftop is a cozy nook straddled by the adjacent buildings. The garden and decor are eclectic and charming but the pleasant surprise was the play after play of chill music. Nothing top 40, just some chill international groove/house (think sitting on the beach in Ibiza).
The drinks were limited to the tiny bar and the rooftop menu had only a few items compared to their regular indoor menu but it was perfect. We had stopped in for after dinner drinks. I would highly recommend the rooftop for a group of 4 or less and definitely for a couple. Service was fine. The server had to run up / down stairs so keep this in mind if you're in a rush, maybe not for you.

We arrived on a chilled Monday evening, there weren’t many people there but we sat at the rooftop and had the most incredible cocktails with the bartender. He was absolutely lovely and the service was 10/10!

The Kitchen is awesome… great food & products. They have a lot of local & organic products, like meat, seafood & beef. They work for and with the community.

Skinners feels like an old reliable friend. The establishment offers pub-like surroundings and creatively conceived generously portioned comfort food. Service is friendly and attentive. This location deserves to be on your go-to list in Jersey City. Pro tip, try to land a table on the roof deck in warmer weather. Stairs are steep.

Skinners loft was fun. My dining mate has severe food allergies, and they verified that the fryer wasn't cross contaminating with gluten. Super awesome. Most restaurants can't do that.

My dinner had hiccups. I got the watermelon salad, and the lettuce was bad. They fixed it and comped the salad part. Service was impeccable throughout this. The salmon was perfectly cooked, also.

I'll definitely go back. They had some organic options, the fish was wild. Yea, good stuff!

Dietary restrictions: They were able to verify that the fryer used for French fries was not cross contaminated with gluten. They noted the dairy and fruit allergies. They were super accommodating. Highly recommend for severe gluten/dairy allergies who just want some fresh, classic American bistro fare, and not new agey concoctions. Like they didn't have gluten free buns. Still a lot of options.
