The vibe is casual upscale. Just be prepared to dress up with dress down shoes (no heels) because there is an area with sand. You come here to chill and relax but look pretty because you're on the water with good views.Closes during the late Autumn into Winter and reopens (depending on the weather) late Spring.

I’d like to share first off, 35 Years of Friendship and 13 Years Married to my Best Friend in The World ? ????. We would’ve sharing our “13th Wedding Anniversary 10-21-2023.” I wanted to surprise and bring my husband to eat out at a Waterfront Restaurant that was highly recommended and that I reviewed was upscale, especially during the evening. Unfortunately and to our disadvantage, we drove almost an hour away from home to what I know Hoboken to be very congested and looked to see that it had been shut down for two weeks, according to security at the booth.I called several times thinking they were so busy, they couldn’t answer, nor could you make reservations online within the 2.5 hours of your set time.“SURF CITY” you knew you should’ve updated your site! It was an inconvenience and it would’ve been our 1st time attending. I was looking forward in the night lights of viewing the New York scenery and my night wasn’t good after this. I cried ?. I planned this a week in advance and I went out of my way trying to surprise my husband and we got surprised. Drive another hour back and went elsewhere. If y’all decide to open up, I wouldn’t refer your company to anyone. A total disappointment your restaurant made us and to any others that come from afar to find out like that! Excuse the typos. That’s how upset I am two days later!

A must go every summer. Such a fun open place. Lots of space to walk around and hang out. In summers they always have something or another going on. Art shows, live bands playing. Beautiful Sunset sight. My favorite has to be the twin hot lobster rolls. Multiple bars, love the vibe, love the place!!

This should be the best spot in Jersey City, UNFORTUNATELY it isn't. I went there expecting to have a good time and was disappointed. When we arrived, we couldn't find a seat, and when we finally did, the table was dirty with food; looked for a staff member to clean the table, they told us to just remove the plates and put them away, so we basically had to clean the table ourselves in order to eat our food. The only thing that was wonderful about my lobster sandwich was the French fries. Don't get me wrong, that location has the nicest view, right on the lake, but the service, food, and entertainment were suck. For drinks, with a group of friends, maybe a good choice. Other than that, it is not a place that I recommend for a date nor for good food.

On a nice, crisp August night sometimes you can go for a nice meal on the bay and that's where Surf City comes into play. You walk in and are greeted with a nice ocean breeze. You see your friends at a nice bench table. You sit down and you discuss what we'll be eating for dinner. we all came to the conclusion that perhaps i should try the burger. It is a steep price of 17 dollars but at Surf City you pay for the experience. After my meal, i decided to update my address to 1 Thisplacerocks Surf City NJ. See pic of me eating the burger. With love and care,JP

Came on a busy Saturday night! Did not use table service but found and open table and ordered at the counter. The twin lobster rolls and fries were so incredibly good! (Did take a little bit to get the food though). The views are great, right on the water. Several self service bars scattered around too.

I went yesterday afternoon and caught it right in time because after that they were packed all day! Super fun, cute place by the water with some sand and a bunch of outside tables. The seafood was great, or at least it looked it, I hate seafood. The bees sure loved the shrimp! I saw a bee straight up cut a piece of it, firmly grasp it, then take off with it. The drinks were really good. I had the Banana Daiquiri, my mom had the Strawberry Daiquiri, my mother-in-law had the Miami Vice, and so did hubby. We also got a pitcher of the Coney Island Mermaid beer, and it was pretty good.

Location is great and wish there were more places like this in the city. Nice place by the water. Service was incredibly slow, so come prepared to wait. Food is meh; lobster guacamole is not as good as people told me, but the lobster roll was okay (it's hard to screw up a lobster roll). The pina colada was the worst I've ever had, it was just a slushee with some added flavor--Stick to draft and some fries, and you won't be disappointed. There's a section covered in sand, which is great if you have kids, so bring sand toys!

Came here for Lunch today. Although the lantern flies are out of control, it didn’t stop us from having a beautiful time on the water. I got the twin lobster rolls (hot). They were very bland but they were packed with fresh lobster. I wanted to have one of each, a hot with butter and a cold with celery aioli but they wouldn’t do it. Not too sure why, considering they’re the same price and it’s less work but it was what it was. $32 you CANNOT beat it and they were packed. It came with a very stingy side of hot butter, a heaping size of fries and a side of Cole slaw for a 2 year old. It was average at best. I will do the cold next time. My wife had a burger which she loved. Was a great crowd, the view is spectacular and you just cannot find a better place on the water that offers this much. We had a bunch of frozen drinks, and although they weren’t fantastic with those cheap flavored mixes, they were huge which validated their costs. We had 2 frozen drinks, twin lobster rolls and the burger platter and was $86 ( Just lunch, we drank after). I hadn’t been here since it was called SandBar but I’ll be back. There’s a lot of water action from JetSkis to Yachts coming in and out of the marina non stop. Do yourself a favor and check this place out, worth your well earned $ to spend. Service was kind of slow but the atmosphere and visuals make it well worth it.

Great place to get away from the noise of city life, lovely views of various watercraft and watersports. Decently priced $$ menu for what they are offering. Fulfilling servings, adorable little hot sauce bottles! My wife, had a great time, will be back before the fall weather begins.Parking: I wish the lot closest to the entrance was of use. The handicapped parking area was a pretty far walk to the building, being supported by a cane.Wheelchair accessibility: It's an open concept building. Just be mindful of the distance from the building you might need to unload a manual chair, before parking honestly.

Me and my Wife absolutely loved this place. We went on a beautiful sunny 85 degree day and everything was nice. The food was good, especially the crab fries. They have multiple bars. Some sections are to receive service from staff and others are for self serve where you order and pick up your food yourself. The breeze, the sun, the water, the views and the environment was great. Prices weren't bad either for where this place is located. We went early and got a great table but it got crowded by 1pm. They also do walk-ins on a first come first serve basis.

I was excited to try this place for the first time. As in all the other reviews, it is a cute hangout spot by the water. I went with a group. So our waiter was nice enough but so slow that when the food was finally delivered it was cold. I had the mahi mahi burger with fries and couldn't eat it. I will say, that after talking with the manager, they didn't charge my food or drink.
