My recent experience ordering Idli from TamilNadu Cafe left much to be desired. Despite the anticipation of enjoying a traditional South Indian dish, I was met with disappointment both in terms of portion size and taste. Upon receiving my order, I was dismayed to find that it consisted of only two small Idlis, which felt inadequate considering the price listed. The portion size was notably smaller than what I would have expected, leaving me feeling unsatisfied and questioning the value of the dish. Furthermore, the quality of the Idlis themselves was underwhelming.

These people are the same as Chef of India. They just operate with a different name since their rating keeps going downhill. The food quality is questionable and the prices are ridiculous for the portions. I ordered pav bhaji and got dal instead of bhaji. WTF??? Stay away from this place and head to little india. You will thank me later

Carefully packed all the items. I ordered my sore masala dosa, idli vada convo and chicken soup. All the items were lacking taste. Portion size for idli vada combo was very small. Potato masala in dosa wasn't very nice.

We ordered one chicken and one veg biryani from this restaurant. The packaging was done well and the list of good things ends there. The chicken biryani barely had any chicken pieces, the taste was very average and we did not feel too well after eating it! Never ordering from here again.

I have taken mysoor bonda and mixture both are very very salty and oily can't even eat one. The taste as well worst ever. Even 1 rating does not deserved.

The worst!!! ordered rasam and a sada dosa. Rasam was so sour that I literally had to use a tomato and boil it with more water.sada dosa was disgusting - sambar tasted horrible!! Never ordering from this place again. First and last!! went with the name thinking I would get proper South Indian food.
This review is of the quality of the food based on take outs ordered and not of the actual place, location, ambience etc. The quality of the food is sub par and pedestrian, the vadas are small dark over fried, the masala in the Dosa has NO connection to the authentic dosa/poori masala one expects (or remembers from Tamil Nadu in India, the salna was a flaming angry orange over oily and over spicy again with no connection to any real delicious salna, the jangri was over sweet and dripping with syrup or ghee more like the Imrity or jalebis of north india, with NO connection to the delicate gentle often rose-scented flavors of great South Indian jangris….. all in all very disappointing. The stars are for idlis and the sambar which were just OK, but then you need to be really skilled to screwup idlis!!!

Not sure if this is a new spot since it doesn't have many reviews, but man am I glad I gave it a chance! I ordered from here because I had a craving for sambar and surprisingly not a lot of Indian restaurants in Jersey City offer it other than as a side condiment. Well, 1. Sambar was everything I was craving and more! Absolutely tasty and delicious, possibly one of the best I've had. 5/5 2. Masala Dosa was also delicious, i usually prefer it a bit crispier, but that's hard to get via delivery instead of eating it at the restaurant plus I usually order paper masala dosa which they did not offer.. regardless, it was super tasty and enjoyable. 5/5 3. Potato Bonda was a wonderful surprise! First time tasting it, and it will now be a regular app when having Indian food, I don't typically enjoy fried apps from Indian restaurants, but these things were great, they're like Samosas but better because they're very lightly battered instead of the thick wrapper samosas have, and in this case they tasted like they were fried in fresh clean oil, no nasty dirty oil after taste. 5/5. Oooh and all the chutneys!!!! Delicious and plentiful!!! Another 5/5! On top of the food being so amazing, the packaging was perfect, everything was Saran wrapped and arrived with zero spills even though the delivery guy was on a bike. Food was also here ahead of schedule and warm! The only recommendation for the restaurant is to maybe poke a couple of holes on the packaging for the Bonda and Dosas to help it stay crispy during delivery, although in this case it really wasn't a problem because the food arrived pretty fast. CHECK THIS PLACE OUT! I certainly will be ordering again!
