Came to Brightside for cabaret night. When we entered inside, the person that appeared to be running the door for the show looked at my son, mom, daughter and husband like we were crazy he proceeded to tell as we came to early and have to leave.

Apparently if you are a person of color, you cannot watch live cabaret shows.
As we tried to find a table for us to sit at, the owner, Tommy told us that the only table available for our family of five were the tables outside. Which I need to state that it was about 13 degrees freezing cold, below temperature that night.
Eventually we were seated by our waiter who was incredibly condescending and looked like he didnt want to be working at all. He sat my group all th way in the back of the restaurant by the public restrooms in extremely uncomfortable high chairs and tables with no space or room between our fami
a patron came to the waiter and said her group was about to leave and suggested to sit us by her original table. he looked at her in a mixture of digust and awe that she would dare suggest such a thing.
He was extremely rude and unhelpful and after we placed our order they charged us for the two plus bill I will never come here again thanks for nothing this use to be my go to but no way never again

If you’re looking for a place to HOST or CATER your special event - Tommy is a GO TO MUST! After attending an event catered by Brightside I convinced my husband we HAD to book them for our wedding! The food is absolutely delicious. The staff goes above & beyond. Their restaurant space is beautiful, accessible & clean! It can be so hard to find businesses that are RELIABLE, friendly, affordable & efficient - Tommy & his staff go above & beyond to say the least! Our family was welcomed with so much love & joy. We can’t wait to continue the relationship! Highly recommend some of our faves: penne vodka, eggplant parm & their classic rolls are a BIG HIT with the kiddos! Love love love can’t say enough great things! This is a business that treats their customers like family. It’s no wonder they do such great things in & around their community. The Brightside Tavern is a very special gem in Jersey City. Tommy the owner is a wonderful person who cares about every detail. The food is delicious. We usually order the pizza, tater tots, sandwiches and artichoke spinach dip. We try something new every time we eat here and we are always impressed with the food. The spinach artichoke dip is the BEST! The karaoke is fun and available anytime. The staff is friendly and helpful. We come to The Brightside Tavern often and we always enjoy!
Kid-friendliness: They have a little stage for Kid Karoake. It’s a hit! And the food and staff are kid friendly.
