Had a wonderful time here for my birthday yesterday! Service and food were excellent, especially this tuna tar-tare Roxy-style with whipped avocado and caviar. The management also went out of their way to make my night, which I really appreciate. The Roxy continues to be one of my favorite restaurants in town!

The Roxy is such a gem. We have visited on countless occasions and it never gets old. The food, the drinks and the warm and amazing atmosphere . Everyone is always so educated about what’s on the menu. Must visit!!

There are a lot of places in Jersey City that say they do steak. I’ve eaten at all of them. This is the one.
The Roxy doesn’t shout. It doesn’t flex. It just quietly puts a perfect piece of beef in front of you and lets the work speak for itself. Deeply browned, unapologetically rich, cooked with confidence, not tricks. This is steak the way it’s supposed to be: honest, muscular, and deeply satisfying.
The first bite snapped me straight back to Quebec City, to that meal Anthony Bourdain had that made him pause mid-sentence, the kind of steak that reminds you why people ever bothered to cook meat over fire in the first place. In No Reservations, standing in the cold, old stone heart of Quebec, he said something close to this:
“Good food is very often, even most often, simple food.”
That’s the soul of this place.
I’ve eaten at that restaurant in Quebec City. I know that feeling, the quiet moment where the table disappears and all that’s left is you, the plate, and a deep sense of gratitude. The Roxy delivers that same experience, without pretension, without theater. Just respect for ingredients and for the person sitting in the chair.
What really seals it, though, is how personal it feels. This isn’t a factory. They notice you. They mark the occasion. A handwritten note. A moment made intentional. Dinner here isn’t just served, it’s acknowledged. You leave feeling seen.
If you care about steak, if you care about food that tells the truth, this is it.
Best steak in Jersey City. Full stop.
No noise. No bullshit. Just the real thing.

We recently hosted our annual Friendsgiving dinner for a group of 18 at The Roxy, and I can confidently say it was one of the best private dining experiences we’ve ever had.
Less than two weeks before our event, we contacted about seven restaurants across Jersey City and Weehawken. Most couldn’t accommodate us, or required steep minimums and additional fees before we even got to discussing the menu or drinks. A few email exchanges with other places felt purely transactional, but from the moment we connected with Theresa at The Roxy, the experience felt completely different.
Theresa made us feel like The Roxy wanted to host our group, and that energy carried through the entire planning process. She answered every question we had (and we had many), helped us shape the menu and pricing, jumped on calls to talk through logistics, and was flexible in every way. She made us feel confident we were in the right hands.
The night of the event was fantastic. The team was prepared, organized, and genuinely welcoming. The Roxy’s atmosphere is warm, stylish, and perfect for a special gathering. The food was delicious, and the cocktail selection was a huge hit; our friends kept going back for their favorites.
A special shoutout to Leo, our server, and Justin, the manager on duty. Both were exceptionally kind, attentive, and professional. The service was seamless, dishes came out quickly, drinks flowed, and they anticipated our needs without ever hovering. We truly couldn’t have asked for a better team taking care of us.
If you’re looking to host a private event in the Jersey City area, look no further than The Roxy. Our Friendsgiving was everything we hoped for and more, and we’re incredibly grateful to the entire staff, especially Theresa, Leo, and Justin for making it so memorable.
Highly recommend.

Food was really good. The Amish Chicken and Jerk Short ribs were delicious. Server was great. Kitchen seemed to get a bit backed up a peak time. That gave us an opportunity to taste their pull apart bread (whoa), which they brought out due to the wait.
We'll be going back.

We have been here twice now and the service and food have been very consistent! The dishes are so thoughtful and delicious. The portions are healthy for this type of place (you’d expect them to be smaller!) The drinks are inventive and made with great skill. The atmosphere is like a modern bistro— I think the bathroom could stand to have a little more personality to match the overall vibe but that’s nit picking :) We will be back! (Get the schnitzel.)

I decided tonight I would start adding more reviews. The Roxy is great. The service was the perfect mix of casual & professional. The trout was perfectly cooked. As was the steak. As was everything else we ate. The cocktails were good, not great. But the wine selection perfectly complements the food. I ordered an Amaro and was brought a second to try. I can’t wait to go back.

Food was good, location was nice but server seemed overwhelmed and underattentive on a Thursday evening….I wouldn’t like to sit with dirty empty plates in front of me for a while because it attracts flies. Thank you.

A gem of a restaurant with super creative dishes. Delicious salmon tartare with a lemony aioli, and warm mushroom dumplings were stunning. Gorgeous interior with stylish curves and mix of materials.
