Very good pizza in the Trenton Tomato pie tradition. Homey, quiet, off the beaten track.

A nice home style Italian eatery. The owner engaged with almost everyone in the joint and took care of us like we were family. I ordered a chicken caesar salad, the portion was generous for the price and it was delicious.

One of our favorite local Italian places. My wife and I love the Chicken Parm Pizza, and the pasta dishes with Vodka Sauce are excellent.

Ordered catering for 60+ people for late delivery. The owner was very accommodating and made the process easy. Thank you!

Candela's Pizzeria & Ristorante is an old school Italian house just off Lawrenceville Road in the town by that name. It is actually the first floor of a formerly residential property on Lawn Park Avenue. It is hard to see from the main road, but it does offer a parking lot and cozy dining room if you like the Burg atmosphere that was so prevalent down in Trenton in the middle of the last century. The kitchen remains true to its original commitment to turn out Roman specialties, just like "Nonna" used to make. I was there for a late lunch last week, and sat alone in the dining room. The menu hadn't changed much in the past 40 years, although service was provided by a much younger and prettier server. For less than $10, I was able to score a very good bowl of cavatelli caloroso (spicy), decent sized side salad (mostly romaine and good balsamic), and a basket of garlic knots (about the best I've ever eaten). The red gravy in the pasta was fresh and shouting of garlic and hot peppers. It included crumbled sweet sausage and very nice cavatelli. Really enjoyed it all, and thought it was a bargain. It is great that a few of these old authentic houses still exist, bringing quality, value and a little nostalgia to this part of the world.

How is this place still in business? Floppy soggy pizza. I didn't get sick, so I'll give them 2 stars for that.

Always a good meal at Candela! Whether a pasta dish, pizza, burger, or other sandwich. Had a nice lentil soup today too. If you like traditional, unadulterated fries, order them here! Not steak fries, but tradition thick straight fries without salt or other seasonings; the way fries are meant to be.

Our go-to Italian food delivery restaurant in Lawrence, NJ. My husband and I enjoy the gourmet pizza and it's reasonably priced!

Community sponsorship pays off. Candela sponsored the Lawrenceville Thursday night summer concert in the park and if it wasn't for that, we wouldn't know they existed. Glad they did because this is a great little business. We looked it up and went there for dinner. The restaurant is hidden from a prime street view, so it is easy to miss. Very friendly staff. Owner (presumably the owner) visited each table and made everyone feel welcome. Food was fantastic and reasonably priced. Pizza is among the best within a 30 mile radius (that I've tried - and I love pizza). They've figured out a perfect crust. I wish there was a bit more sauce on it - but I'll order extra sauce next time. Now that we know Candela exists in our neighborhood, we'll be back. A lot. Pro tip: when leaving, don't exit the way you entered the parking lot. Otherwise, you'll have to head down a one-way through the neighborhood.

2 things: 1) the mozerella sticks were ok, nothing special. Im not sure if they were made in house. 2) the steak and cheese sandwich is TO DIE FOR. Like, i will make a side trip to get one from them :) So, they can plan on me getting more sandwiches from them :)
