I truly enjoyed this restaurant. The service was great as well as the food. It is tiny and not loud like other Portuguese restaurants I have visited over by Newark. I do believe the prices are right based on the quality of the food.Average price per person is between $30-$50.
I found the service was excellent. The food on the other hand was subpar. The clam chowder was bland and really had minimal amount of clams. The seafood paella also needed some seasoning and the seafood was way over cooked especially the lobster which like the other seafood was chewy and the rice needed some help in the flavor category as well. If only the meal was as good as the service.

STAY AWAY people are very Rude and way OVERPRICED Better bring your own water because you have to pay 8 dollars for a bottle of water there is no free water food was ok but that price should of been fantastic

Our food was great. We love Portuguese food so this place didn't disappoint. Jhonny, our waiter, was so funny and had an awesome personality. We would request him the next time we come back. Will be back!

Went there with family. Some food came out luke warm to cool. Sent some back to warm up. Didn't seem to be an issue but when we got the bill some menu items were higher on our bill vs. the menu given to us. Example soup on menu $6.95 but on bill $7.50, why?? Not sure if this is common practice here or it due to the food sent back to warm up. Only a few dollars above menu prices but it's the principle. Food was good. Prices are a bit high. Overall, okay except for the increases on our bill. We didn't challenge the bill, paid it with a 20+% tip but will not return!

Nice place. Food was good. Very pricey and they include tip which I'm not a fan of. If service isn't good why tip 20%? I don't agree with adding tip for just a couple having dinner.

My first time here at Assado Portugese Steakhouse with my lady for Valentines day. For starters the ambiance was nice but the place as a whole is very compact, the tables were so close together you can hear each and every conversation other diners were having. The service wasn't too bad considering it was a full house. Now on to the food my girlfriend had the Portuguese Steak and she enjoyed her dish. However my dish which was the "Paella Valanciana" was way too bland and was just a big clump of mess the rice for one was way overcooked and the scallops had a weird texture not to my liking one bit, the mussels were not fresh and the lobster meat was rubberish. I do not plan on coming back here especially for the price I paid for the meal was not worth it one bit it was so bad I did not even take the rest of the portion of my meal in a to go box.

Valentines dinner menu was the same menu but they added 5 dollars to every entry. Nothing special for the special day but 40 dollars more than I budgeted for. Odds are I will try other restaurants before I go back.

Everything about this place stay away. You’re better off going down neck where the service is 10 times faster and the staff doesn’t discriminate you. We had a 7:00 reservation and the woman at the front desk had the rudest attitude possible. they obviously overbooked and have “favorites” when it comes to customers. The staff and service was beyond disappointing. Waiting 45 minutes to be told “our table is being cleared”. It’s over priced steakhouse food that you can get anywhere else for way better down in Newark or the Oranges. Dont waste your time

Had a reservation at 7 for my father in law birthday. Then had to wait a whole 45 mins to have the group that came before us get seated ahead of us and then have the hostess telling us they came before us. Awful customer service and experience.

They sat us 45 minutes late for our reservation and Fernando, The owner or manager did not care at all. They also forgot one of our entrées, or did not put it in and it came out 25 minutes after the rest of the entrées again they seem not to care.
